Most Pokémon are adorable at first glance, but once you spend a few hours with the franchise you begin to realize "My God—some of these creatures are horrifying."
Game Freak's not shy about celebrating the darker side of these cotton candy abominations, either. A perfect example is the latest trailer for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. The spot shows off Mimikyu's new Z-Move: "Let's Snuggle Forever."

("And ever and ever and e v e r…")
Mimikyu is a Ghost / Fairy Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. The filthy rag it wears that vaguely resembles Pikachu is a disguise it wears in hopes of making friends. Unsurprisingly, Mimikyu is not an approachable Pokémon. To look upon its true form is to court disease, or even death.
Here's Mimikyu's PokéDex entry for Pokémon Sun:

"Its actual appearance is unknown. A scholar who saw what was under its rag was overwhelmed by terror and died from the shock."
Now, let's go back to this new Z-Move, this "Forever Snuggle" from Hell, and analyze what's going on. When Mimikyu's Z-Move is initiated, the little nightmare-rat envelopes its rival with its gown, and—well, use your imagination, I guess. And don't forget about that Pokémon scholar who died of fright after looking under Mimikyu's costume.
Mimikyu knows full well its face is capable of causing terror-deaths, a la Ringu. That's why it wears its disguise in the first place. Unlike many Ghost-type Pokémon (too many) it doesn't want to kill other people and Pokémon. It wants to be accepted and loved, which is precisely why it chose the world's most beloved Pokémon for its costume.
If you encounter a Mimikyu that loves its trainer enough to execute a Z-Move, however, woe unto thee. Mimikyu already has its soul mate; it doesn't need to impress you. In other words, if Mimikyu's trainer wills your Pokémon to die of fear, here's some bad news: It's going to happen. It's time to get your things in order.
It's not a stretch to call Mimikyu's new Z-Move (and the black lore surrounding its general physiology) Game Freak's tribute to fans' favorite creepy Pokémon stories. Again, Pokémon's had its dark corners from day one, and stories like "Cubone weeps constantly for its dead mother" gradually gave rise to legends like "Lavender Town Syndrome" and Pokémon Lost Silver.
Fans still love Pokémon "creepypasta" (urban legends born and traded on the internet), and "Let's Snuggle Forever" shows Game Freak is seemingly happy to supply more fuel for these ghostly tales while simultaneously poking a bit of fun at them.
Good night, and good bye…
