On Page 3 we’ve got the best PS4 games rated 4 stars. The PS4 has been on the market for four years come November 2017 so there are a LOT of PS4 games that fall into that category. In order to make the list a little less daunting we’ve filtered the list so it’s the cream of the 4-star crop. “How did you manage that if they were all awarded 4 stars?” you ask. Well, let’s just say it’s a combination of magic and personal bias from the person who re-compiled these lists!
On page four of this list, Team USG talk about their own personal favorite best PS4 games and explain why they're recommending them. Sorry in advance for bad opinions. There’s no accounting for taste!
The Best PS4 Games of All Time- Rated 5 Stars
Taking place over the course of roughly a year in Tokyo, a few teenagers, outcast from society, embark on a mission to reform criminals and model society to their perfect vision. Persona 5 is a long haul game, taking near 100 hours to complete, but it’s the meaningful characters, special relationships, and intricate combat that make this game a joy to slog through. Easily one of the best PS4 games.
Is Everybody's Gone to the Rapture a game, an experimental piece of interactive fiction, or is it perhaps even art? Whatever it is, the experience it delivers is a memorable one. It's gorgeous to look at, fantastic to listen to, and spins an intelligent and somewhat esoteric sci-fi mystery that's truly gripping through to its very end.
One of the stranger big budget games to surface over the last few years, NieR: Automata thrusts players into the shoes of androids 2B and 9S, as they question their own humanity, as well as the human nature of the machines they fight against. The hectic, stylish combat makes Automata a resounding hit, carrying the title through its meaty, twisting plot.
The previous generation's definitive chill-out game gets a lovely visual makeover for the next. And it's still as cool as ever.
Overwatch may yet cool off and fall by the wayside at some point in the near future, but it sure seems like it's here for the long haul. Pretty much everything about this game feels fresh and exciting: the class-based combat, the art style, the roster, the modes. It's equal parts strategic and twitchy, encouraging you to think while also rewarding skill, and its roster is a delight. Overwatch may well be the best new multiplayer shooter to come along since Modern Warfare and Team Fortress 2 took 2007 by storm - and it's one of the best PS4 games.
NBA 2K17 addresses most of my biggest issues from last year in cutting out canned animations and going back to basics with MyCareer, and it's still as polished as ever. It's easy to take its excellence for granted, but Visual Concepts' ambition and willingness to take risks keeps it from ever becoming stale. NBA 2K17 is the champion, and it's tough to see it losing that title anytime soon.
From Software once raised the bar for game design; now, they've done the same for HD remakes. Rest assured, this isn't just a lazy repackaging of old content. Even if you know the Kingdom of Drangleic like the back of your hand, you're in for many new surprises. And if you've never played Dark Souls II before, your patience has paid off: This is simply the best version of it you'll ever play and one of the best PS4 games.
Perhaps the definitive version of Diablo III, Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition is streamlined, buttoned-down and an absolute joy to play - especially so when you start adding friends.
Although it closely follows the Metroidvania blueprint, the brilliantly designed and executed Axiom Verge adds enough new and original features to make it a truly great game in its own right. An absolute must for retro fans and one of the best PS4 games.
A tricky and challenging single-player game, joyously mad multiplayer action, and an incredibly in-depth creator mode combine to deliver what is without doubt, the best LittleBigPlanet game yet. Wonderful stuff.
LucasArts' 1993 adventure game has aged incredibly well, making for an incredible experience for newcomers and veterans alike. Add in a host of great extras and upgrades, and it's hard to think of how this Remastered edition could possibly be better.
From Software's amazing streak continues with Dark Souls III, which amounts to the finest game in the series. Returning players will find everything they've grown to love in a much better form, while newbies will be treated to the most accessible Souls to date. Two Dark Souls games in this list? Fine! This is one of the best PS4 games.
