NBA 2K18 Will Have Identical Features on the Switch and PS4, Amiibo Support Confirmed

NBA 2K18 on the Nintendo Switch is Feature Complete.

NBA 2K18 is coming out in a couple weeks and we have a couple new details regarding the upcoming 2K sports game from a hands-on event we're attending, details specifically the Nintendo Switch version. For starters, the Switch version will be feature complete and identical to, say, the PlayStation 4 version of the game. Also, NBA 2K18 will apparently support amiibo on the Switch.

NBA 2K18 is the latest 2K basketball game Visual Concepts and the first to come out on the Nintendo Switch. Unlike other sports games, the Switch version of NBA 2K18 will have all the features and modes of its other console counterparts including MyGM team-management, MyLeague, MyCareer, Story mode, and everything else.

Compare this to FIFA 18 which arrives on the Switch lacking key features on the Switch version of the game like The Journey. Whereas FIFA 18 on the Switch feels like a half-step, NBA 2K18 will be delivering the complete NBA 2K package on Nintendo's portable hybrid console. Our Editor-in-Chief Kat Bailey is demoing the game and you can check her impressions below.

In another little tidbit, the Switch version will apparently have amiibo support. There's no further details other than that the feature exists on the Switch version. While I'm not sure Nintendo will manufacture NBA 2K specific amiibo, I assume the functionality will do much of what amiibo support traditionally does: namely unlock content or transfer and carry save data.

Expect more NBA 2K18 details coming from USgamer in the near future. NBA 2K18 comes out for the PS4, PS3 Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch on September 19.
