New Strider Coming From Double Helix

Strider Hiryu heads out on another mission for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

At the SDCC World of Capcom panel today, Killer Instinct developer Double Helix announced that it has been developing a Strider game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The game looks to be a 2.5 D side-scrolling action-adventure game. The team at Double Helix is working closely with the Capcom team at Osaka in order to finish the game.

The new Strider will feature the same classic gameplay that fans remember from the Strider arcade and PSOne titles, married with a Metroidvania-style exploration system.

"New to the franchise is the massive interconnected world of Kazakh City which players can explore in any direction they choose. The traditional level structure has been replaced with a retraceable world and a deep ability upgrade system which enables Hiryu to build more power and abilities to penetrate ever deeper into the dystopian adventure," wrote Double Helix studio head Patrick Gilmore in the studio's announcement.

Strider is coming in early 2014 to PlayStation3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Steam.

...I didn't realize there was already a gameplay trailer for this. I thought it was going to be a re-imagining of the original arcade or NES version. The original arcade version had some terrific action set pieces; this seems a little uninspired.

I am gonna get this day 1. The trailer sold me. Well if the price is right. This should not go above $20.
