Nintendo apparently feels really good about the current sales prospects of the Nintendo Switch. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is doubling its planned production of the system for the next fiscal year ending on March 31, 2018. Production was originally set at 8 million units, but Nintendo is kicking that number up to 16 million.
The change is due to better-than-expected sales of the Nintendo Switch in its launch month. Nintendo said that it would ship 2 million Switch systems during the launch month, but than number could go as high as 2.5 million. WSJ's sources says the company believe it can sell more than 10 million units during the next fiscal year.
Nintendo did not comment on the story and the company has yet to release hard sales or shipment numbers for the Switch. This is odd, as if Nintendo had already crossed its milestone, it likely would've said something in a press release. Earlier this week, research firm SuperData estimated Switch worldwide sales at 1.5 million.
