Rare and Microsoft have announced a closed beta for the upcoming Xbox One game, Sea of Thieves. The beta will start January 24 at 4 AM PT and last until 12 AM PT on January 29.
Sea of Thieves is the upcoming adventure co-op game developed by Rare. The studio recently revealed a new, limited edition Xbox One controller to go along with its March 20 release date.
While Sea of Thieves has had multiple alphas, the closed beta should give more players a more complete look at the upcoming pirate game. The press release says that the closed beta will be a bespoke experience. So while the full game won't be accessible in the beta, Rare is giving players a good selection of experiences.
The Sea of Thieves closed beta is available to those who joined the Sea of Thieves Insider Program before December 1, 2017, along with anyone who pre-orders the game.
It should be noted that the closed beta will not have a NDA, so even if you miss out on the beta, streamers and content makers will probably have you covered. Considering that Rare worked with Microsoft's own streaming service, Mixer, for features that will help make Sea of Thieves a better viewing experience, Rare is certainly pushing the stream potential of its new game.
Sea of Thieves will be out on March 20 for Xbox One and PC.
