Starcraft Is Free Now. Completely Free

Blizzard Entertainment makes Starcraft free as it rolls onward to Starcraft Remastered.

News by Mike Williams, .

With the announcement of Starcraft Remastered, Blizzard Entertainment said that the original Starcraft would be going free. Today is the day. With the first patch that the game has seen in 8 years, Starcraft is now a thing you can download whenever you feel like it. Here's a link to the installers on Windows and Mac.

The patch improves the game's compatibility with Windows 7, 8.1, and 10. Online has been improved overall and Blizzard added more modern anti-cheat features to the title's online multiplayer. There's also a new Observer mode for the game. Blizzard did offer one big note for those looking to download the game.

"When patching StarCraft, please use the 'Run as Admin' option; it is required during your first client run to migrate saves and avoid issues from Windows system admin changes," said Blizzard developer Pete Stilwell on the official forums.

Starcraft Remastered will be coming to PC later this year.

I remember in middle school when my friends wouldn't shut up about this game. Now it's free. What a time we live in.

I remember playing this... and getting trashed by Koreans. Still have this and the expansion in their jewel cases. Don't want to install it again... because I would have to type out that long and ridiculous cd-key.

I did however, re-install Tiberian Sun. James Earl Jones is da man!

God bless you, Westwood! You were too young.

what Blizzard didn't tell us from the get-go is that they switched to open GL. I have an older computer with crappy intel graphics that doesn't support open GL 2.1 which is needed to run. very disappointed since my computer is more than capable of running the original. was looking forward to it being free since i lost my original CD Keys long ago.

What a great news! Another reason to use domyessay.today and spend more time playing my favorite game! Wish future modes to Starcraft to be free too!
