2K Marin has released a new trailer for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, focusing on the game's tendency to let squad members who die stay dead. Permadeath and how it effected your play style was one of the big features of the original XCOM games, so its good to see it returning in the recent XCOM revival. This trailer shows off the feature in a more humorous style than the previous Bureau commercials.
The Bureau is slightly different from Firaxis' XCOM: Enemy Unknown: the game is actually a squad-based third-person shooter. Players take control of Special Agent William Carter in the 1960s, when the first aliens begin to plague mankind. While the gameplay is real-time, players can pause the action and deliver commands to their teammates.
The Bureau was originally the only XCOM game, first hinted by back in 2006 when 2K Marin was still a part of Bioshock developer Irrational Games. It was envisioned as a first person survival horror title, but with added elements from the original XCOMs games like base management. XCOM fans hated that idea, which sent 2K Marin back to the drawing board.
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is coming to PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on August 20.
