Ys Seven will come out on August 30 XSEED Games confirmed today. You will be able to buy the game on all the usual digital PC storefronts including Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store with a 10 percent discount during the launch week (off the normal $24.99 price).
Ys Seven for the PC was first announced over a Twitch stream when XSEED revealed that the PC port will include HD resolutions and 60fps, along with controller support and achievements for both Steam and GOG. XSEED didn't reveal when the game would be coming out, only that it would be this summer, which I guess August 30 qualifies.
Ys Seven was named one of the best "Overall" RPGs of E3 the year it came out from RPGFan. There was another PC port of the game released in 2012 for China, but this is a separate endeavor from that one, offering several marked improvements over the PSP version.
Ys Seven blends RPG elements to a real-time combat system that follows a three-member battle party that can swap between characters depending on the situation. The games follow series hero Adol Christin through another fantasy adventure, this time drying to reunite five tribes that serve and protect five Great Dragons. XSEED Says Ys Seven is the first title that reached mainstream acclaim in the west, but Ys has had a cult following among gamers for a long time.
We recently interviewed the President of Nihon Falcom who develops the Ys games to talk about the future of the game industry so also be sure to check that out before hitting up Ys Seven at the end of the month.
