XSEED Confirms Ys Seven PC Release Date for End of this Summer

The RPG will release on Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store

News by Matt Kim, .

Ys Seven will come out on August 30 XSEED Games confirmed today. You will be able to buy the game on all the usual digital PC storefronts including Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store with a 10 percent discount during the launch week (off the normal $24.99 price).

Ys Seven for the PC was first announced over a Twitch stream when XSEED revealed that the PC port will include HD resolutions and 60fps, along with controller support and achievements for both Steam and GOG. XSEED didn't reveal when the game would be coming out, only that it would be this summer, which I guess August 30 qualifies.

Ys Seven was named one of the best "Overall" RPGs of E3 the year it came out from RPGFan. There was another PC port of the game released in 2012 for China, but this is a separate endeavor from that one, offering several marked improvements over the PSP version.

Ys Seven blends RPG elements to a real-time combat system that follows a three-member battle party that can swap between characters depending on the situation. The games follow series hero Adol Christin through another fantasy adventure, this time drying to reunite five tribes that serve and protect five Great Dragons. XSEED Says Ys Seven is the first title that reached mainstream acclaim in the west, but Ys has had a cult following among gamers for a long time.

We recently interviewed the President of Nihon Falcom who develops the Ys games to talk about the future of the game industry so also be sure to check that out before hitting up Ys Seven at the end of the month.

I bought a Vita specifically to play Ys: Memories of Celceta and Ys SEVEN, the two I didn't have access to at all. I'm not REGRETTING the Vita purchase now that SEVEN is on PC too, but like, man, I love Ys. It's one of my all time favorite RPG series. I literally got into it on a whim because I heard one of the musical tracks for Ys Origin. WOO BABY, was that a song!

I already own Ys 7 on the PSTV, but I love Falcom games enough to buy them again if it means not having to break out old hardware if I want to revisit one of their titles. Now I just need the entirety of The Legend of Heroes series (pls XSEED translate the Crossbell arc!) and I'll be set.

One of the biggest benefits to an amazon prime sub in Japan is that falcom basically upload all their OSTs to Amazon Prime Music within about a year of the OST's original release.

4000 yen or so a year for basically all the falcom music released? Legitimately? Great!
