@pjedavison Having listened to all the recent FF Chips albums by SE, these arrangements here are almost certainly done by one or more of those artists. The style of arrangement is very similar. I'm guessing it was a lot easier to ask them to contribute to this little bit of fan-service rather than asking someone to work with the SNES's SPC700 chip again. It would have been a nice touch, granted.

PaRappa The Rapper would certainly do a good job of exposing any latency issues you may or may not have with your connection to PSNow. As would Alpha 3, Rival Schools and Bust a Groove.

@docexe Yeah I've always been skeptical of cloud streaming for games. One thing you can't cheat is the speed of light. At this CES event the PSNow demo booths they had up were being fed off a local gaikai server (literally just down the hallway). The games being demo'd were 3rd person action games such as The Last of Us and God of War. Those types of genres can get away with a certain level of latency and still be fully playable. However when you start looking at fighting games and twitch reaction games it gets a lot fiddlier. The Verge noticed some perceptible lag when playing on the HDTV setup of God of War, and you'd imagine that Sony would be demoing these on their best latency TVs, and that's in a local environment with a presumably minimal ping. I worry that a service like this will effectively exclude certain genres. There will be a lot of factors at play as to how smooth your experience will be. How close you are (ping latency) to the nearest PSNow server. Your maximum HDTV gaming profile visual latency. Broadband up/down. Router capabilities, if you're playing on a wireless device. I'm guessing if you're playing via HDTV you might wanna hook it up via ethernet cable. I guess it's best to wait and see what the US beta findings are.

Mmm that mirror mode toad's turnpike. MK64 was the one I played the most as well. I had the merciless approach, because it is one if the *very* few games I was above-par at, that I felt the honest need to actually show it to people. I wanted to impress them by brutally humiliating them at it, and not in a nasty way, I was just really proud of how well I played it, and even to this day I can not say that about most games.

I played Mario Kart 8 at Eurogamer Expo. First thing I said to the guy at the booth is "how do I switch to regular controls?" I can't stand gyro. I'm also begging for an F-Zero GX HD. I feel we have many Nintendo racer parallels in our gaming history xD 8 It felt good, and I can imagine it would have an even better feel at 150cc speed, as most of the games do. I do hope Nintendo peeks its head outside of their development studio though, because I feel there were some lessons to be learned from the success of Sonic All-stars Transformed.

I still think it's time for the series to evolve to Super Smash Kart. The potential racers / kart styles / weapons / race stages. I won't bark on about that though because I honestly feel Mario Kart 8 is looking in good shape, and I can't wait to get a hold of it.

On a side note, I've been having a ton of fun lately with both Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 on the Wii Virtual Console. But in bed, playing it with the GamePad in my lap, using a classic controller pro.Edited December 2013 by Unknown

This game is an absolute classic, can't wait to play this version of it. The soundtrack is just so damn good as well.

I'm crossing my fingers and praying that Landstalker gets the 3D treatment. 3D would lend itself perfectly to an isometric RPG. I asked the developer whether it was possible and he did say yes, but that it would have to sell well to justify it.

It's like an amazing mashup of Nintendo World Championships meets Wario Ware. I hope Nintendo explores this remix style further, as I think this is a great way of revisiting and paying homage to that generation of gaming.

One of the best Action-Adventure RPGs came on this system. Landstalker is one of my alltime favourites. My brother bought it for me when I was 10 years old, and I've loved it ever since. Has a great plot, characters, music, setting, and never takes itself too seriously, with lots of humour.

So it seems we might have a small insight into their 3 tiered "Good, Better, Best" strategy here with an i3, i5 and i7 machine. These are just prototypes obviously, but it's a fair speculation. I agree that unless Valve can come to some manufacturing/retail agreements it'll be difficult to get these prices down, (although you can knock 100 quid off of the asking price due to the free OS they'll ship with).

I don't think the innovation is meant to be with the hardware tbh. It's more about the potential of the OS, and possibly the controller.

@Pombar It's odd that he says "a character I've played for the last 15 years". Because the only character he's played for "15 years" is Solid Snake. His time as Big Boss is less than that. Besides, I'm fine with them recasting Big Boss, as they're ultimately different characters with different personalities. Hayter *is* Solid, as far as I'm concerned. I'd be more understanding of his position if they recast Solid Snake in a future game. To me they are different, and I don't mind anything that helps to emphasise that.
