@Jonnyboy407 I always find myself forgetting that Bravely Second came out this year. Fantastic game, and I finished it right before starting FFXV.

I have pulled exactly one all-nighter in my life, and that was to play Final Fantasy 9. Finals had just ended, and my roommates had gone home for the holidays. I needed to unwind, so I picked up the file of FF9 that I had started a few days earlier. I went from the middle of disc 1 that evening to the beginning of disc 3 the following morning.

Credit to Tabata for taking the time to explain why they're taking the delay. A bit disappointed, but I can wait two more months for the game.

Probably Lair of the Shadow Broker for Mass Effect 2. I tend to play mostly JRPGs that don't feature DLC or Expansions.Edited August 2016 by Unknown

    1. Final Fantasy XIV - Stressful job means MMO grinding is relaxing.
    2. Life is Strange - Always a sucker for a Telltale-style adventure, writing is really good even if voice acting is a bit cringy.
    3. VA-11 Hall-A - Excellent writing, engaging characters, and the drink mixing is surprisingly fun.

I think they're just going to take the loss at this point and mitigate the loss as best they can. With FF14 profitable, this won't sink the company, but I think they just want to get it out, get what they can, and then move on to their next project. Here's hoping FF16 and FF7R are better planned out.

The USPTO has opposition and cancellation proceedings for this very reason. Marks get cancelled all the time.

I've always been impressed about how XSEED is willing to take on niche games and corner a small, but dedicated market. When AAA games would rather have none of the money if they can't have all of the money (credit Jim Sterling for that paraphrased quote), this mid-tier localization studio is happy with good, consistent returns from a small market. It's refreshing to see the middle tier of the games industry emerge between the indie scene and the AAA market.

Persona 4 Golden, Portal, Shadow of the Colossus, and maybe Final Fantasy X. My concern is that I like games that have a lot of flaws (Xenogears), so is a 10/10 based on what I like or a game that has few flaws (Shadow of the Colossus)? Because there are tons of great games that are scaled down enough to eliminate flaws (Braid), but don't really have the scope of some games that I really think are better, but more flawed (Final Fantasy 7).

Posted in USgamer Community Question: Which Game do you Think Deserves a Perfect Rating?

  • Avatar for KeroseneBlast KeroseneBlast 2 years ago

I will admit, I'm much more forgiving of a game's flaws if it does something interesting, and I think this game really solidified that view for me. It's one of my favorite games for a reason, but I completely understand why many don't like it.

But you hit Square's biggest problem spot on--a need to outdo themselves every time. I really wish they could have iterated on this game more (Xenosaga notwithstanding) or incorporated some of its themes into its other games (Final Fantasy X is probably closest thematically).
