Glad to see I'm not the only one excited for Alliance Alive. It's predecessor was a pretty cool under the radar game, among my favorite for the system tbh, so a better version of that sounds pretty good to me.

I actually like the original's story and pacing quite a bit, but it's definitely plays rougher compared to the sequels. Still might put it above Golden Abyss, and I'd put 3 ahead of 4.

@chaoticBeat I had never heard of Burnout until I played the demo of 3, yeah that's up there for me.

Also on the list is Batman: Arkham Asylum, which I was only vaguely aware of but didn't pay attention to (licensed games meh) but the demo was so good I immediately went the the store and bought a copy! And the first Tony Hawk's Pro-Skater was amazing too.

I think the higher ups just got off on consumer angst at this point. I'd easily pay the $80 but I ain't going to jump through multiple hoops for one.

Yeah I've got to agree that Caty's emphasis the racial casting seems...not terribly helpful in a review? Not saying there's no place for political views in a review or can't be noted, but the length she dwells on it seems more suited for an editorial, as it doesn't really say anything about the quality of the game itself. Especially if your not sold on the idea of being so race essential about casting (not that there isn't room to discuss diversity of representation and opportunities for people of color). Granted, maybe the fact the Uncharted is so formulaic doesn't help!

@Wellman2nd It's not the worst thing in the world (considering the source material) but it is a little disappointing to see them announced so soon.

Snappier pacing does sound better than Uncharted 4.

Never played the previous FFG version because of the lengthy playtime, but this one is listed 1-2 hours. Even if it's more like 2-3 that's relatively short for a civ game, and something I'd be more willing to get.

One can't really judge whether it's a worthwhile thing to have in the game devoid of context, but I get why it has gotten the reaction it has. Most games with permadeth are mechanically built around it in some way. Hellblade has been marketed as a narrative focused AAA action game though, meaning it's either a) punishing for the sake of being punishing, which is weird for this category of game and while deter a lot of people away from it, b) is actually pretty easy, in which case why even bother putting it in the game if it has no teeth, or c) purely a thematic bluff, which will feel cheap and empty once the player sees through it. Or d) just a lame way to make the game artificially longer.

Now apparently it is just a bluff. While I'm not necessarily against it if it really thematically justified, I'd hazard to guess Ninja Theory should have found a more elegent way of expressing feelings of tension without resorting to artificial threats of permadeth.

Man I had no idea Tenchu was under Activision's umbrella now. That's definitely a series I wouldn't mind returning. Same with Masquerade (never played it but know it's pretty revered in some circles).Edited last month by Unknown
