This sounds exciting. I really enjoyed the original. It’s the first PC game I can remember preferring to what was (then) available on consoles.

I think that interview with Tyler Sigman might have been the first Axe of the Blood God episode I ever listened to. I’ve been interested in the game since you reviewed it, but didn’t realize I had access to it on iOS. I don’t check the App Store much since I got my 3DS, but I’m going to have to change that.

I probably won’t be picking up a Switch for at least a year or two, but my wife got me an iPad for Christmas, so I’m psyched by this “news”. I’m also going to re-download some AOTBG episodes that discuss the game, so thanks for that too!

I’ve only owned my 3DS for about 2.5 years and it’s my only gaming system outside of my phone/tablet. I just audited my playtime last night, and I’ve played about 1400 hours, and completed 15 games. I have a bunch more games on the system, and at least a dozen or so titles still to buy. I plan on playing it thorough 2018 at the least, with an eye towards a Switch in 2019. I could see myself holding out until there is a handheld only or other new iteration. I’m also curious to see if Sony or Microsoft start exploring the handheld+ space.Edited 2 weeks ago by Unknown

I would love to see continued support of the 3DS with GBA virtual console games. I’d also love another wave of 3DS selects.

I tend to focus on 1 or 2 games a quarter. My 2017 was:

    Pokémon Moon
    Pokémon X Postgame
    Pokémon Black
    Fire Emblem Fates Birthright

I just started Super Mario 3D World and Pokémon Ultra Moon in December, so they will be 2018 games.

All these games were fantastic. For my needs, X edges Birthright, but I’m really looking forward to the rest of Fates.

Honorable mention to the Nintendo and Steve Jackson mobile games, which have me enjoying gaming on my phone for the first time since I bought my 3DS.

  • Avatar for ghostsandgoblins ghostsandgoblins A month ago

I don’t think I’ve played any new releases in 2017. I’ve bought a few (Blast Master Zero and River City: Knights of Justice come to mind), and might get to Ultra Moon before the end of the year.

To make this easier, I’m not going to count any the Nintendo releases, because I’m fairly certain that I will play those eventually. That leaves Horizon Zero Dawn, Nier Automata, Yakuza Zero, and Persona 5 as the 2017 games I’m most worried that I’ll never play.Edited last month by Unknown

@NiceGuyNeon This is my favorite too. I probably replayed that stage more than any other in the series.

@Damn_Skippy Maybe my favorite lines of dialogue in a video game ever were from Rasher: Do you have something to say to me? Is it Swine?

The surly villagers were my favorite.Edited 2 times. Last edited last month by Unknown

@MetManMas I love the bat idea, and I definitely wanted more functionality from New Leaf in the middle of the night. Another idea would be an underground economy. Put Crazy Redd in the Tom Nook role for the black market, and you could have rats or snakes working for him. Worse prices, but you don't have to wait for the squares who only open during the day.

@Damn_Skippy Maybe I was unlucky with New Leaf, but my village kept being populated by multiple skins of the same personality. It took some of the charm away from the villagers when you'd hear the exact same dialogue multiple times in a row as you did your tasks around town.
