One of the things I want out of my Switch (after Nintendo games) is a portable Steam box. (Obviously not literally) I hope more companies follow Bethesda's lead and port older PC games to the Switch, because I would buy the hell out of them. Portal 1/2, Bioshock, New Vegas, Black Mesa, all sorts of great games that could be given new life and run easily on the Switch.

@NateDizzy if they are porting sports games, you'd hope there'd be no difference except for some graphic compromises. But it wouldn't be shocking.

@Roto13 me either, and I am not being sarcastic. More year+ old ports of console and PC games I can play on the go would be rad!

Don't get me wrong, new games are the most important, but I'd buy, for example, an Alien Isolation port in a heartbeat.

Apparently I am one of the few people left on Earth that have never played Minecraft. I might, finally, give it a try.

I'm shocked by the anti-Skyrim sentiment here. If what you want is a compelling central story and tight RPG mechanics, then Skyrim is not going to do that for you.

What it is an incredible, totally open world adventure that felt like anything could happen at any time. Its loose structure meant the main story was watered down, but it also meant after escaping in the beginning you could bypass it completely to pursue your own story of a young mage going to school, or a assassin in training, or a dirty bandit accosting people that pass through your forest, or a world weary orc that just wants settle down in Mor Khazgur with his anvil but keeps getting pulled back in. The civil war becomes the background of whatever story you want to pursue.

Its loosely attached main story also made the prolific modding scene possible, which stretched the individualized role playing possibilities far, far beyond what any other game offers.

Its obviously showing its age and I hope they address the bland characters in the next one, but whether its your favorite RPG or not, or the best ever, it undeniably a masterpiece.

I would definitely overpay for Switch-compatible NES/SNES wireless controllers. Like, by a lot.

Harada is saying Japan is making great games, but other places are making great games too and Japan is never going to dominate the conversation like they did. I don't think this is a knock on Japanese games or people that like to play them.

I also think people generalizing about what a 'western' game is, as if its nothing but EA/Ubisoft sequels, sound kind of silly.

I think one of the things to consider is that its not so much "US" as "Western". The US, Canada, and many European countries seem (from the outside to me anyway) to be pretty integrated. Thats nearly a combined 1 billion people to Japan's 120 million. You have these parent companies with studios scattered all over NA and Europe, and they seem to cooperate and move development of franchises from one side of the planet to another. Pound for pound, Japan is punching way above its weight, and they still have (imo) the two most important video game companies, Nintendo and Sony; and I say that as mainly a PC gamer.Edited 3 weeks ago by Unknown

If I don't have any interest at all (well opportunity might be the better word) in multiplayer, is this worth getting as a single player game?
