Microtransactions are a garbage way to play video games. It turns gaming into an absolutely parasitic relationship like slot machines. I would credit Nintendo for resisting this model, but they have more than a toe in it.

Super Mario Run failed because it was a boring game. It is also pretty annoying that you *cannot play it while commuting in NYC* because of the internet access requirement. I bet 50% of phone gaming in NYC is done while on a subway train or waiting for a subway train.

I finally got mine after Amazon got a small batch.

With the assumption that VC and indie support are going to be there, the Switch is a dream come true for me. A single unified Nintendo platform that will get the undivided attention of all of Nintendo's best teams. I hated the Wii and skipped the Wii U, the first ever Nintendo console I did not get. I don't know that its going to repeat the DS or Wii or even challenge the PS4 for lifetime sales, but its going to be a profitable hit for Nintendo and bring a lot of old fans back into the fold, and appeal to many types of new ones.

@link6616 I imagine the Wii U and Switch markets contain a lot of overlapping customers, not as much with the Vita.

" A fair amount of time is spent on the motivations for leaving behind everything to go to Andromeda—a pertinent question given that in real-life we're prepping people to make a permanent move to Mars"

@internisus yeah, that was definitely not a promise to fix the animations. There are two different issues as well: bugs, and stilted, dated facial animation. I imagine they do plan to fix the former, I have not idea how they could possibly patch in a fix for the later any time soon, if ever.

The reason I liked ME2 the best of the three was the way it was built around characters. It felt sort of like a prestige television series, with each character quest being an hour long episode.

Building out your crew was so satisfying that I wish there had been even more to it (and that they had designed a ship that didn't need so many loading screens to move around in!). I wish there had been more practical and immediate advantages to building out your ship, and even deeper dialogue options for all the characters and crew. It would have been nice if they moved around, too, Bethesda-style, instead of being bolted into place.

I also think the boss battle complaints are overblown. I do remember being kind of confused by the whole concept of this cyber-baby thing, but boss battles are almost always a let down.

I made the decision to skip the Wii U. Games like Mario Kart 8 and Wind Waker HD made it very difficult. I am definitely getting a Switch (if I can ever find one) and I hope they bring as many Wii U games as they can to it.

There is a bunch of older Wii games (Mario Galaxy) that I imagine would also look pretty good on the Switch in handheld mode. Is it an assumption Wii games will be coming to Switch's VC?

@lonecow In this case of these major system launches I don't think underestimating demand plays a role. Once the hardware was finalized, they probably decided the minimum inventory needed to launch and calculated the point their factories could produce that many: March 2017.

Given more flexibility, I am sure they would have preferred to launch in November 2016, and with much, much larger inventory.

@MetManMas I imagine there are a lot of people like me that skipped the Wii U but are going to get a Switch. I am pretty excited for any and all first party Wii U ports I can get.
