Adi Shanker has tapped into the cusp-of-adolescence-must-pretend-I'm-older market really well.

Which is to say, he's a hack.

"Let's take Property X and make it edgy!" is the rallying cry of first-year art students. Once they mature they realize it's not edgy to do the same thing everyone else is doing and try to find their own voice. That's where actual creativity comes from, even with an established property.

I've never been one to pay for cosmetic DLC, but god forbid they try bundling this nonsense.

    Even if she lied...

    SO WHAT?

People lie all the time. She isn't hurting anyone but herself in this instance. This isn't worth the harassment she's receiving.Edited last month by Unknown

This is unfortunate. I really enjoyed the original Mass Effect Trilogy (though the third installment was my least favorite, story-wise. The second was just SO GOOD), but this review makes it seem that the magic just hasn't returned.

If the second installment picks up, maybe I'll go back to this one and play them both, but for now I'm not enthusiastic.

It's okay. Breath of the Wild has me pretty engaged.

@WiIIyTheAntelope But that scale is off, and leaves far too much room for trash. If 1-6 are all entirely unplayable garbage, the scale is actually 6 through 10, or logically, 1 through 5.

    1 - bad
    2 - bad
    3 - bad
    4 - bad
    5 - bad
    6 - bad
    7 - okay
    8 - good
    9 - great
    10 - amazing

See that? 1-5 are all wastes. Hence my argument: the scale is useless. If 1 - 6 all mean the same thing, they can easily use the same number. If it's an issue of gaming metacritic, well, that's a sad state of the industry, as films don't get held to the same standard. A 77-rated game is an abysmal failure. A 77-rated film is still well-regarded: Logan, The Princess Bride, and Jiro Dreams of Sushi, for example.Edited last month by Unknown

I think the game deserves better than 7/10*, but the voice acting isn't great and the weapon breaking mechanic is annoying. I'm loving Breath of the Wild, but it is not above reproach.

*Can we also agree that video game scoring expectations is outrageous? Why is everything under the top 20 percentile considered utter garbage?

@Thad Gaming outlets report between 2.5 and 4 hours of Breath of the Wild, depending on screen brightness.

That's literally the same and the 3DS and Vita. I don't know what you're complaining about. I think everyone in the world would prefer infinite battery life, but it's in line with previous portable consoles.

Try playing a high-end 3D game on iOS/Android and see if you get ten hours out of it. You won't.

@Thad The Switch's battery life is similar to the new 3DS and Vita, actually. It's less than most Android/iOS tablets, but they aren't used for high-end gaming.

People: part of understanding criticism is understanding the reviewer. Roger Ebert hated lots of great movies. He was a good critic because he clearly (often eloquently) stated his points and made his reasoning clear. As long as a review is honest and clear in their points, they are doing their job. It's up to you to interpret it and decide if their opinion is in line with yours.

Expecting everyone to agree with you, or looking for a sweeping consensus, is foolish. Caty provides her reasoning. You're free to disagree with it, but don't call it clickbait.

Edit: ESPECIALLY considering the public at large has not played Horizon Zero Dawn yet. How can you defend a game you've never played?Edited February 2017 by Unknown
