This is a dream crossover !! but I can only see this game gaining competitive traction if it gets released in Arcades in Japan.

I guess Nintendo's ARMS won the war against Square-Enix's Dissidia. I mean ARMS was just released and Dissidia has been in Arcades almost two years now. And Square-Enix REALLY pushed Dissidia this past weekend at EVO. Talking about the power of brand and lobbying !

@VotesForCows EVO never disappoints !! The finals of all the other games were as exciting as SFV's , but SFV benefited from great storylines, for example USA never winning a SF title and Tokido's run from the looser's bracket in the Top 8 to win the whole thing and even Bonchan's SFV run through looser's after losing his first match in pools and coming so close to qualifying to top 8. I particularly enjoyed KOF's and BlazBlue's finals, but all the other games had hype finals !

@tigergt33 By the way, please watch the EVO 2017 Street Fighter V finals if you didn't catch it live. You will see why the Fighting Game Community is so special and sets it apart from all other competitive video game communities.Edited 1 weeks ago by Unknown

@StrwbrryJams I agree. It seems odd though that a, in theory, full fledged game would be locked to begin with. It makes it seem as if the version of Star Fox 2 we're getting is not the complete one. But I also understand a lot of the younger players haven't experienced the original Star Fox so that's maybe a way to incentivize a playthrough with the original one before jumping to the second one.

Why would they lock Star Fox 2 from the get go though ?

Wish other series would get this same treatment e.g. Saint Seiya. But DB guarantees big sales in North America so it make sense, business wise.

I think the story was told Mike when they announced that the game was going to be released on September. The game is going to be playable at E3 and CEO 2017 which is about two months before the game is even released. There's very little time to properly release a "full" game at this point. I'm sure Marvel has their own interests as well, since they want awareness of the MCU to be tied with the game.

It's interesting that Aksys doesn't get the same criticism as Capcom for Guilty Gear Xrd, because they are actually implementing a similar approach with continuous "upgrade" releases. You can also make the argument that Aksys' upgrade scheme is more expensive per character than Capcom's , balance changes and other improvements aside ($20.00 for two characters with Rev 2 upgrade vs. $30 for six characters for the Season 2 SFV Character Pass). The main difference is of course that Guilty Gear Xrd has a plethora of features and modes that SFV didn't have at the beginning and still doesn't have.

In conclusion, it seems that publishers know that they need to squeeze more money when possible because creating new assets, balancing, etc. costs more nowadays especially with the long tail that fighting games carryEdited last month by Unknown
