Destiny 2 The Dawning Event - Start Date and End Date
We might not be over the Holiday season, but that doesn't mean the Destiny 2 Dawning event is over just yet. The event kicked off back in December 2017, and is currently scheduled to wrap up on December 9, likely coinciding with the weekly reset around 9 am PST/12 pm EST. The updated winter version of the Tower will be active until then, which you can see just below:
Destiny 2 The Dawning Event - New Weapons and Armor Items
The Dawning event has now been live for some time in Destiny 2, and you can acquire a variety of new items from Tess Everis in the Tower. We've listed the new Dawning Engram amounts that you can purchase from Tess just below:
- Dawning Engram (1) - 200 Silver
- Dawning Engram (3) - 500 Silver
- Dawning Engram (5) - 800 Silver
- Star of Dark Knights Bundle - 1,500 Silver
With each Dawning Engram purchased, you'll stand to gain a few new Winter-themed items. With the Star of Dark Knights Bundle, you're guaranteed to gain a new Sparrow, Dawning Engrams, Bright Dust, and a "stack" of Dawning-themed Shaders.
Outside of these randomised item boxes, you can buy a few Dawning items outright from Tess with Bright Dust, like the Winterhart Plate chest armor piece pictured just below:
We've listed all the Dawning items you can currently purchase from Tess with Bright Dust just below:
- Winterhart Plate - 1,200 Bright Dust
- Holiday Cheer (Sparrow) - 2,500 Bright Dust
- Breath of Stars (Ship) - 500 Bright Dust
- Dulcinea Shell (Ghost Shell) - 400 Bright Dust
- Icecapade (Emote) - 400 Bright Dust
- Silver Dawning Lanterns (Transmat Effect) - 450 Bright Dust
- Winter Shaders Pack (Shaders) - 150 Bright Dust
We don't yet know if or when these items available from Tess Everis will change or rotate to other Dawning items, but we'll keep you posted if this is the case.
There's also a brand new sword available with the Dawning expansion, as posted by Bungie game director Christopher Barrett on twitter.
Now that the Dawning event has actually begun, you can head over to Tess Everis, who'll grant you with one Dawning Engram. No matter what items you obtain, you'll then be instructed to head over to Ikora Rey, who will brief you on the special event.
From here, you'll have the new 'Spreading Holiday Cheer' Milestone to complete, which you'll have to complete a game of Mayhem in the Crucible to fulfil. On completion of the Milestone, you'll be granted with several new, randomised Dawning-related items.
Destiny 2 Dawning Gift Schematic Guide
Outside of this, there's also a new Dawning Gift Schematic item that you can acquire, by interacting with the pile of gifts just to the left of Ikora Rey. Once you do this, you'll obtain a randomised Dawning Gift Schematic item in the inventory slot for your Ghost, which requires a certain amount of enemies to be killed, and a certain amount of resources to be recovered in order to be completed.
The requirements for the Dawning Gift Schematic are entirely randomised, and will also be assigned to a random vendor in the Tower. You'll have to defeat 50 of a certain type of enemy, for example the Cabal on Nessus, and you'll have to recover 10 of a certain type of resource, for example 10 Dusklight Shards from the European Dead Zone.
Once you've fulfilled all the requirements for your Dawning Gift Schematic, it'll transform into a Ghaul Stress Toy, which you then have to take back to the required vendor in the Tower. Once you've done this, they'll reward you with a certain Dawning-related, randomised item. Since the Dawning Gift Schematic is tied into a Milestone, it should repeat every week.
Destiny 2 Mayhem PvP Mode
As a final addition to Destiny 2 through the Holiday event, the Mayhem mode has returned to the Crucible, for the first time since it premiered back in the original Destiny in 2015. This mode greatly decreases the time that your Super Abilities and grenades recharge at, meaning it’s an all-round hectic mode for everyone.
You’ll also be able to engage in snowball fights with other Guardians in both the Tower and the Farm during the Dawning event, and you’ll also be able to take part in hockey matches on the Farm, using an oversized puck.
This is everything you need to know about the Dawning event for Destiny 2 so far, but as we mentioned previously, we'll be keeping this guide up to date with all the latest information, as the event continues into early January 2018.
