Ice cream? Cake? Mayo? Ketchup? Who will win?! This Splatoon 2 Splatfest guide will give you all the info you need.

Simply put, Splatoon 2 Splatfests are region-based events in the game, where players can pick from two sides and fight for that side to be crowned Splatfest Champion. Back in the original Splatoon, Callie and Marie were leaders of the two factions in the Splatfests, but this time that honor goes to Pearl and Marina.

Splatoon 2 Splatfests Guide

Splatoon 2 Splatfests were introduced in the World Premiere Demo, where players fought for either Team Ice Cream or Team Cake. Team Ice Cream won this fight, but over in Japan where a different Splatoon 2 Splatfest was taking place, Team Rock triumphed over Team Pop.

Splatoon 2 Splatfest - Flight Vs. Invisibility Results

Splatoon 2's third Splatfest in total, the Flight Vs. Invisibility Splatfest, concluded at 9 pm PDT on Saturday, September 2. Nintendo has now released the results for the Splatfest, which Flight won by a score of 2-1 over Invisibility.

Ketchupi Vs. Mayonnaise Winner is Crowned - It's Mayonnaise!

The results of the first Splatfest in Splatoon 2 since the game launched are in. Sorry, Ketchup fans, but you've lost. The result across Europe mirrored that for the US, with players voting heavily in favour of ketchup but with Mayo winning in Team and Solo battles. In Japan players voted in favour of Mayo, but Ketchup only won the Team battle. Each result ended 2-1 to Mayo.

Ketchup Vs May Splatfest Details

The Nintendo of Europe twitter account recently announced that the next Splatfest, coming in the first weekend of August, will ask players to choose between Mayo or Ketchup (whether ketchup is kept in the cupboard or the fridge is thankfully a topic that will not be broached).

The next Splatoon 2 Splatfest, where Pearl’s Mayo will be facing off against Marina’s Ketchup, is scheduled to take place from August 4, at 9 pm PDT, to the following day on August 5, also at 9 pm PDT. The UK Splatfest will be starting slightly later, at 3pm BST on August 5, and running for 24 hours till August 6. Thankfully, this is Friday and Saturday, so we don’t have to worry about life getting in the way.

Unlike the first Splatfest, there will a brand new map in the Ketchup vs. Mayo Splatfest, called Shifty station. The image below is our only glimpse at the stage, but Nintendo have revealed that the Shifty Station stage will return for future Splatfests.

Splatoon 2 Splatfest Rewards

Nintendo revealed that this Splatfest between Mayo and Ketchup would be running worldwide over the aforementioned dates, although the results would be tallied by region, with no winner being declared worldwide. While we’re still not sure what the specific results will be for this upcoming Splatfest, past rewards have included Super Sea Snails, which can be used to give the player additional gear slots, as well as provide gear re-rolls for pieces of equipment that you no longer use. To do this, visit Murch in Inkopolis Square.

If you don't acquire any Super Sea Snails through the Splatests, then your only other option for getting hold of them is to level up to Rank 30 in online play, where you'll be rewarded with a Super Sea Snail for every additional two levels you ascend.

You can actually already sign up to a Splatfest team from Inkopolis Square. Once you’ve loaded the game, you’ll get the usual TV show from Pearl and Marina, except this time the pair will devolve into arguing over which side is better, with Pearl going for Team Mayo, and Marina opting for Team Ketchup.

After this interlude has finished, simply head into the center of Inkopolis Square, where you’ll find a board (pictured just below), that displays both Team Ketchup and Team Mayo signs. Interact with the board to commit to either side, but be warned that once you’ve committed to a team, you can’t then change team and fight for the other side.

However, once you have committed to either Team Mayo or Team Ketchup, you'll be given a special Splatfest Tee with your team logo on. This Splatfest Tee isn't just for show, as it can be upgraded just like any other piece of gear before and during the actual Mayo vs. Ketchup Splatfest.

Splatoon 2 Marina and Pearl's Teams

As we've already mentioned, Marina and Pearl will be team captains for the upcoming Mayo vs. Ketchup Splatfest in Splatoon 2, with Pearl helming Team Mayo, and Marina leading Team Ketchup. This will be the same throughout the lifespan of Splatoon 2's Splatfests, as Marina and Pearl will always be leading opposing teams, just like Callie and Marie did back in the original Splatoon.
