Outlast 2: Fending Off Marta, Locating Lynn, Torture Church Walkthrough

Outlast 2 drops protagonist Blake Langermann on the outskirts of the Sonoran Desert, and tasks him with rescuing his wife, Lynn, from a town of murderous lunatics. We've got all you need to get through the game in this Outlast 2 Walkthrough.

Having just escaped the population of a small town that are all trying to kill him, Blake Langermann's night can only improve at this point in Outlast 2. Or so you'd think. In this Outlast 2 Walkthrough we'll help you fend off Marta and locate Lyn.

Outlast 2 - Fending Off Marta, Again

Starting off in a charming room full of cages and bloodstains, have Blake head through the only door in the room and then the one immediately after, to collect a battery. Return to the main room of the house with the hanging light, and head up the stairs at the back, through the double doors to the large church hall. Turn immediately to your right and face the corpse on the ground, in order to record the 'Why You Have to Die' event.

Head all the way round the church hall, navigating the desks to reach the other set of double doors, heading through them and up the stairs to the top floor. Here, you can find the 'Lesson Plan' document on the desk, but after this hop out of the open window and land on the ground below. Turn to your right, and follow the fence on your left, all the way until you reach the 'A Letter to Mom' note lying next to a bear. Now turn to your right and interact with the cart, pushing it all the way until it's next to the gate, so you can hop over the latter.

Once you're over the gate, you'll see a woman praying to a pyre on your right, so sneak around her to the left to find a bandage, battery, and the 'Knoth's Gospel, Chapter 10' document in a shack right by her. Head out of the left side of the shack, going down an alleyway, all the way until you're between the front of a house and a wooden fence. Look around roughly the middle of the fence to see an opening you can slip through, with another pushable cart right behind it in the street.

Here's Marta! Temple Gate's scariest inhabitant is back for some fun in this next section, which requires Blake to be quick on his feet in order to survive. As soon as you're through the opening in the fence, begin pushing the cart forward, with the objective to get it to the large gate so you can hop over. Once you've pushed the cart for a short distance, Marta will appear ahead of you, chasing you wherever you go through this new part of Temple Gate.

If you turn around and run forwards into a small barn, there'll be a bandage there on the left hand side of the room. Heading out of the other side of the barn and turning right, the 'Temple Gate Act of Contrition' document can be found at the very end of this path. If you continue following this path around the edge of the area, you'll eventually come back to the street with the pushable cart. Push it at every opportunity you get, constantly checking over your shoulder with the left shoulder button to see if Marta is approaching you. If she gets close to you, run around the cart and loop back around using the same path, repeating this until you can climb onto the cart and jump over the gate.

Outlast 2 - Discovering the Location of Lynn

Once you're over the gate and firmly away from Marta, head along the path that climbs the hill, taking a turning off left after the group of houses to find the 'Rest These Bones' document in front of three graves. Head back to the path and look up at the church with the camera, in order to record 'The Chapel' event. Head through the chapel front doors, and immediately in front of Blake on the table will be the 'Letter From Nick to Knoth' document.

Proceed through either set of double doors into the main body of the church, and walk towards the back of the church in order to start up a conversation with the unfortunate fellow tied down with his eyes gouged out. Although he asks Blake to kill him, the protagonist of Outlast 2 is unable to, so when he starts talking, head immediately to the left hand side of the church and enter one of the confession boxes, hiding from the people that are about to enter the room.

Watch the event unfold, and step out of the confession box after everyone has left the room, turning with your camera to face Mary and record the charming 'Torture' event. Head out of the church the way you came in, and sprint once you hear voices behind you, for the inhabitants of Temple Gate aren't far behind.

Sprint all the way down the hill, sticking with the path laid out in front of you, until you get to a well lit house with a heavy, sliding door. Pull the door back and run inside, turning left and weaving among the shelves until you come to a door leading out of the building. Climb the stairs straight in front you, turning left around the corner and immediately jumping across the gap once you reach the top, bringing a close to this section of Outlast 2.

Blake's adventures now take him to a watermill, and our guides for Outlast 2 will continue on in the same direction.
