Destiny 2 Menagerie - How to Unlock the Menagerie in Destiny 2
Here's our guide on how to unlock the Menagerie in Destiny 2, as well as how to complete the new activity type.
The Season of Opulence brings with it the new Menagerie activity in Destiny 2. This gauntlet is meant to function as a new endgame activity, challenging even the most experienced players. In our Destiny 2 Menagerie guide, we'll be walking you through how to unlock the Menagerie in Destiny 2 as easily as possible.
How to Unlock the Menagerie in Destiny 2
Unfortunately, there are a few quest steps you've got to undertake in Destiny 2 before you can actually experience the Menagerie for yourself.
- Go visit Benedict-44 in the Tower.
- Go visit Werner 99-40 on Nessus.
- Kill 10 Cabal.
- Kill 25 Vex with melee damage.
- Generate orbs, earn XP, and complete one challenge.
- Locate the chest in the Well of Flame on Nessus.
- Return to Werner 99-40.
Firstly go to the Tower, and visit Benedict-44, who is far back in the area where we first met Ada-1 in the Season of the Forge.
Benedict will instruct you to go to Nessus. When you get here, go visit Werner 99-40, aboard his fancy barge near the very north of the map. He'll task you to firstly kill Cabal, and then kill Vex using melee damage to finish them off. The next step tasks you to generate orbs and collect experience.

To complete this quest step, we'd recommend undertaking a Nightfall Strike, using a Masterworked gun if possible. Masterwork weapons generate orbs at a great pace, and you'll also earn a ton of experience points through completing the Nightfall.
Finally, head to the Well of Flame, which is in the Cistern area of Nessus. You'll need to platform up the outside of the tall, circular structure where we've marked on the map below, and enter through a large gap in the wall. Now drop down the large chute, and turn around. You'll find a fancy golden chest. Open it, and then return straight back to Werner 99-40.

After you've done this final step, the Menagerie is yours to explore in Destiny 2, at last. Now scroll to the area with the Leviathan Raid on the map of Nessus, and you can initiate the Menagerie with a matchmade Fireteam.
What is the Destiny 2 Menagerie?
The Menagerie acts as the main new addition in the Destiny 2 Season of Opulence. It's a matchmade activity between 6 Guardians, with a recommended Power level of 690 (however, most of the enemies in the Menagerie are Power level 700+).

All through the Menagerie, you and your Fireteam of 6 are going to be faced with a series of challenge rooms. You need to complete objectives in each room, whether it's kill a certain number of enemies or collect orbs, to progress a bar on the left side of the screen.
When this bar is full, no matter how many different challenge rooms it takes to achieve this, you'll be put through to the final boss. This boss isn't messing around, as you'll need to destroy elite Harpies that are spawned into the arena, to open up the boss to take damage and be killed. After the boss, you'll be rewarded with a set amount of points with which you can upgrade your reward chalice.
