Madden 18 Offensive Money Plays

In this Madden 18 Offensive money plays section below, we'll be outlining the best offensive plays no matter the situation. These are both running plays and passing plays, that are always guaranteed to get you some key yardage no matter what.

  • Singleback Ace Slot: PA Post Y Cross - Both receivers and the tight end all run stutter routes in this unique play, making it a dangerous one if you can hold onto the ball long enough. If you can’t wait, then check the ball down to the receiver on the inside left, as soon as he turns towards the sidelines and shakes any defenders. If your pocket will hold, then hit the other receiver or the tight end after they’re stuttered in their routes for some big yardage gain.
  • Singleback Wing Tight: PA FL Stretch - Uses three tight ends, all splitting off to beat man coverage using the pair of tight ends to the right, or using the tight end on the left to beat zone coverage.
  • Strong Close: HB Toss - This is a solid running play, allowing your HB to either stretch the field and follow their blockers to the outside of the formation, or to cut back inside and immediately turn up the field, if an opening presents itself.
  • Strong Close: Mesh - If you put the rightmost receiver on a streak route by pressing Y/Triangle, selecting their icon, and then flicking up on the left analog stick, this can create great separation for both receivers on the right side of the field.
  • Strong Wing: Post Shot - This play can get you down half the field in just one throw, but you have to make few adjustments first. Motion the 'X' receiver out to the right before the snap and put them on a comeback route, and put B/O on a drag route across the middle of the field. After you've snapped the ball, wait until the receiver on the deep route cuts inside, and throw a bullet pass in front of them. The safety won't be anywhere near them, and this is an effective play for huge yardage gain.
  • Pistol Bunch TE: Saints Flood - This is a particularly flexible play, having a tight end on a route that cuts nicely to the outside, a decent check down route in the middle, and a receiver streaking on the left that can usually catch a bullet pass on the inside.
  • Gun Bunch: Bunch Trail - Excellent for beating man coverage with the tight end on the right shoulder pass, as soon as he cuts inwards and upfield.
  • Gun Doubles Offset: Power O - This is a great running play to call on first or second down, when your opponent is least expecting a run. The pulling guards nearly always help secure the running back a route straight up the middle.
  • The Power O play from the Oakland Raiders.
  • Gun Doubles Offset Weak: Switch - The pair of receivers on the left will decimate any zone coverage, while the receiver on the right can beat man coverage quickly, if you get the ball in their hands sooner rather than later while they’re on the inside of the field.
  • Gun Split Close Pats: X Drag Trail - Your tight end and wide receiver to the right will split zone coverage in half when they cut into the middle of the field, as one will draw off any defending players nearby, leaving you free to throw to the other player. Your receiver to the left that runs the shallow route is a great check down option, and will frequently be left open in zone coverage.
  • Gun Doubles: Pats Y-Seam - Your tight end is key to this play, as he can shake off any coverage with the stop-and-go tactic that he uses before cutting inside. Throw the ball as soon as he cuts inside, and you’ll beat any man coverage that’s hounding him.
  • Gun Trips Y Iso: Pats Y Stutter - The one to watch here is the tight end to the right on the stutter route. If he’s in man or zone coverage, let him pull off the stutter and run upfield, before you throw a bullet pass to him on the inside. Bear in mind that this play can take a while to develop properly, and while you can throw the pass earlier while the tight end is in the stutter, he’ll have to battle the cornerback for it.
  • Gun Trips TE: Inside Zone - Provided you have three decent tight ends in your lineup, then this running play can work wonders, as your HB can follow the blocks that both the offensive line and the three tight ends lay out in front of them.
  • Gun Empty Y-Saint: Saints Fork - Both streaking routes on this play frequently come open in man coverage, while the receiver on the right that cuts to the outside always comes open in zone play, as the defense has too many players to deal with on that side of the field.

Madden 18 Red Zone Offensive Money Plays

If you need less than 20 yards in order to get into the endzone, but you're not sure which plays to run, then let our Madden 18 best redzone plays guide advise you on which are the best plays to call.

  • Singleback Wing Tight: PA FL Stretch - Uses three tight ends, all splitting off to beat man coverage using the pair of tight ends to the right, or using the tight end on the left to beat zone coverage.
  • Strong Close: HB Toss - As we stated above, the great thing about this play is that the running back has options on where to go, which is ultimately key to preventing your redzone running plays from being stuffed behind the line of scrimmage.
  • Gun Split Close Pats: X Drag Trail - While your tight end and receiver to the right can split zone coverage in half when they cut into the middle of the field, the receiver on the left running the shallow route is a great checkdown option, and is frequently left wide open in zone coverage.
  • Gun Doubles: Pats Y-Seam - Your tight end and the wide receiver inside on the left have unique routes in this play, both able to cut quickly and shake off coverage. If the receiver on the left gets a step on the person covering him, then throw a lob pass to him by tapping the receiver button, and make sure to perform a possession catch with the receiver. Alternatively, throw a bullet pass to the inside of the tight end as soon as he cuts inside, as soon as he’s beaten man coverage with his double move.
  • Gun Bunch: Bunch Trail - This play works the same as it does in the rest of the field, and it can work wonders in the redzone if you're able to hit the tight end as soon as he cuts and turns upfield.
