Kingdom Come Deliverance Homecoming Quest Guide

While the main objective of making it back to your hometown kicks off after you’ve spent time in Talmberg, you won’t actually begin the Homecoming quest until you’ve made it to the outskirts of Skalitz, where you began Kingdom Come Deliverance. When you initiate the Homecoming quest, you’ll find yourself on the outskirts of a destroyed town, with corpses littering your surroundings. Make sure to quickly scavenge through all the corpses here, as there’s no one to see you, and you’ll need to stock up on food items to endure any fights ahead.

Speaking of fights ahead, you’ll want to avoid venturing into the actual ruins of the town at this point in the Homecoming quest, as you’ll encounter a bandit there who can quickly beat you down with a flurry of sword attacks. Instead, make your way around the village and continue straight ahead to marker A on the map, going directly through a field. At the end of the field you’ll come to a road, but you’ll want to stay off the road as there’s another bandit with an axe waiting to jump you.

How to Find the Spade in the Homecoming Quest

Instead, make your way around the ruins of Skalitz until you see a large gap in the barricades that you can slip through, bringing you into the center of the town. Simply continue straight ahead, and you’ll eventually find the corpses of both your parents lying on the ground. After the ensuing cutscene, you’ll be tasked with finding a spade with which to bury both your parents, and for this you’ll need to head northeast, towards the sound of the barking dog.

When you come to the alleyway with the dog, you’ll be presented with a scenario in which your fellow townsman has the spade, but won’t give it up willingly. Try every speech option, saving the combat encounter as a backup plan if talking doesn’t work. If this does end in a fight for the spade, it’s actually a fairly easy fight, as the townsman doesn’t have weapon, unlike the bandits that you snuck past on your way to Skalitz. Simply hammer away with quick attacks, and you’ll send him running off in no time.

Return to the dog in the alley, and pick up the spade, heading all the way back to your former home, and initiate the act of digging a grave for your parents near the house. At this point the Homecoming quest will conclude, the opening credits of Kingdom Come Deliverance will roll.
