Pokemon Go Eevee - Evolving Eevee into Glaceon and Leafeon

Pokemon Go Eevee - Evolving Eevee into Glaceon and Leafeon

Evolving Eevee in Pokemon Go. How to evolve your Pokemon GO Eevee into one of its five forms: Vaporeon, Flareon, Jolteon, Espeon, or Umbreon in 2019.

Eevee is one of the most intriguing pokemon you can get in Pokemon Go. This is due to its many evolution forms, or Eeveelutions, allowing it to specialize in one of 5 types currently. The method for evolving Eevee in Pokemon Go is a little different to what you may be used to. There are no elemental stones, meaning that Niantic has adopted a new way to determine which form Eevee takes when evolving. To help you get the Eeveelution of your dreams, we've put together this Pokemon Go Eevee guide. We'll take a look at Eevee's stats, and then detail exactly how to get Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, and Espeon in Pokemon Go 2019.

Pokemon Go Eevee

In other Pokemon games, you evolve Eevee using elemental stones. In Pokémon GO, Eevee's evolution method was a mystery for quite some time, until it was discovered that it's all down to naming. Interestingly, the method calls back to characters in the older episodes of the Pokémon anime series: The Battling Eevee Brothers and The Kimono Sisters. Simply put, the name you give your Eevee seems to directly affect its "Eeveelution."

  • Capture an Eevee, if you haven't already.
  • Tap the pencil icon next to the word "Eevee" to change its name.
  • If you want a Flareon, name the Eevee Pyro
  • If you want a Jolteon, name the Eevee Sparky
  • If you want a Vaporeon, name the Eevee Rainer
  • If you want an Espeon, name the Eevee Sakura
  • If you want an Umbreon, name the Eevee Tamao
  • If it's a Leafeon you're after then name Eevee 'Linnea'
  • For Glaceon, name your Eevee 'rea'
  • When you've finished re-naming your Eevee, quit the Pokemon GO app completely and restart it to make sure the name registers to the game's servers.

When you re-open the Pokémon GO app, enter the Pokémon menu and hit "Evolve" to meet your new and improved Eevee. Don't forget, you need enough Eevee candy to make the evolution.

Glaceon and Leafeon Lures

Leafeon and Glaceon have just been officially added to Pokemon Go. They are obtained by using specific items on Eeevee. We've included the key info below:

  • Mossy Lure + Eevee = Leafeon
  • Glacial Lure + Eevee = Glaceon

The Story Behind the Eevee Naming Method in Pokemon GO

Now that you know the Eevee naming method in Pokemon GO, you might be wondering where it comes from. As I'm sure some of you will know, Niantic didn't just pull these evolution names out of a hat, no, it actually looked to the Pokemon anime for inspiration. The Battling Everly Brothers featured in the TV series, each with his own Eeveelution. The names used in Pokemon GO are a direct reference to these pokemon, which is pretty neat throwback if you ask me.

We've even got a video for you below, showing how to evolve Eevee into Umbreon and Espeon

How to Evolve Eevee into Umbreon and Espeon Using Day and Night

It seems that naming Eevee is not the only way to determine its evolution. There is actually another way to evolve Eevee into Espeon and Umbreon, which we'll detail below:

  • First, your Eevee must have 10KMs walked and 2 Candy collected as your Buddy
  • The Eevee must be set as you Buddy during Evolution
  • Evolve Eevee at Night to get Umbreon
  • Evolve Eevee during the Day to get Espeon

Can you Evolve Eevee into Leafeon, Sylveon and Glaceon in Pokemon GO?

Eevee has received a few new additions to its evolution roster over the years, with grass, ice and fairy types being added recently. there are actually 8 Eevee evolutions at this point.

Which is the Most Powerful / Best Eevee Evolution?

With eight different Eevee evolutions to choose from, you'll want to know which is the best Eeveelution of them all. And while being different types does mean that each one is good for different scenarios, there are some that are undoubtedly better than others. Vaporeon is the best Eevee Evolution in general, given it has the highest CP. Espeon is great for taking down Machamp, and Flareon is a great option for attacking.
