Red Dead Online Beta Release Date and Beta Times
There have been some recent details released on a Red Dead Online Public Beta. It will launch before the online service full releases, as a test-run for the full experience . Depending on how late in November Red Dead Online 2 launches, the beta could release very soon after launch of Red Dead Redemption 2. We’ll likely hear more pretty soon, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated. As of November 8, 2018, we know that the Red Dead Online Beta will release at the end of November. This is according to Take-Two's Q2 earning's report. Not long left to wait then!
Red Dead Online Release Date
Up until recently, it was unclear as to whether Red Dead Online would launch alongside the original game. This was not the case for GTA V, and the team at Rockstar Games is adopting a similar strategy this time around. Red Dead Online will release sometime after the launch of the game. We don’t have any specifics yet, but we’ll be sure to update you once we know more.
Red Dead Online Co-Op - Will Red Dead Online Have Cooperative Play?
Thanks to the recent IGN interview, we know that Red Dead Online will feature Co-Op play. Director of Design Imran Sarwar revealed the following:
Red Dead Online will use the world and gameplay mechanics of Red Dead Redemption 2 as a jumping off point for a new world of cowboys (and cowgirls) and outlaws that combines multiplayer and cooperative gameplay and narrative components in a huge open world.
Why isn’t Red Dead Online Available at Launch
Given that Red Dead Redemption 2 is now available in stores, it’s understandable that many fans are upset to hear that the game’s online component isn't yet part of the game. Rockstar has commented on this, and given its reasons for keeping the releases separate, stating:
There are a few reasons for this. The first is that even though Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online share the same gameplay mechanics and geography, we see them essentially as separate products that will grow and evolve independently of each other. Also, as we have learned from experience when launching Online games at this scale, there are bound to be a few issues and we want to ensure that we have time to gradually roll out the game and make the experience as smooth as we possibly can for everyone. We believe this way of rolling out will give people the best overall experiences with both single player and multiplayer.
Red Dead Online Weapons - Stone Hatchet, Golden Revolver
Though Red Dead Online is yet to launch, we do know of a couple of exclusive weapons that will be available at launch. The first is the Stone Hatchet, which was awarded to GTA 5 players on completion of a special quest earlier this year. There's also the Golden Revolver, which was also offered up as part of GTA 5 content. There's no way to get them right now, but we do know they will feature in Red Dead Online.
That’s everything we know about Red Dead Online. We’ll be updating with more info as we get it.
