Destiny 2 Forges Guide - How to Complete Black Armory Forges

Here's everything you need to know about all the new Destiny 2 Black Armory content, including the Scourge of the Past Raid, and all new Black Armory weapons.

Multiple new Forge missions have been implemented in Destiny 2 through the course of the Black Armory expansion. In this Destiny 2 Forges guide, we'll be walking you through how to complete numerous Forge missions that have unlocked so far in the Season of the Forge, including the likes of the Gofannon and Volundr Forges.

If you instead need an overview of everything else that’s coming to Destiny 2 as part of the new seasonal event, head over to our Destiny 2 DLC guide. Here we list all the new events and weapons in the Black Armory season, as well as looking further ahead to all the new content lined up for 2019.

Destiny 2 Black Armory Volundr Forge Guide

As you can see in the image just below, there’s a fair few new Forges coming to Destiny 2 as part of the Black Armory. Volundr Forge is active right now in Destiny 2, but to even think about taking it on, you're going to have to complete the Machine Gun Beta Frame from Ada-1, as well as being at a power level of at least 600.

But how do Forges actually work in Destiny 2? It works a little like the Blind Well or Escalation Protocol, in that you’ll be repeatedly slaying waves upon waves of increasingly power enemies. But there’s a catch: You need to identify enemies that are glowing blue, and focus your fire on them, as they’ll drop a special orb.

You need to then pick up this orb, and throw it at the Forge, which is hanging just above your Fireteam. This will charge the Forge to a certain degree, and when the Forge in question is fully charged, it’ll give off a pulse of light. Another wave of enemies will spawn, and you’ll have to repeat the whole process again.

Eventually though, a powerful boss enemy will spawn into the arena with your Fireteam. Your team now need to focus on taking down the boss, as well as dividing your attention between the boss and the lower level enemies swarming your Fireteam. Once you’ve defeated the big boss in question, the Forge will be fully charged, ending the event, and granting your Fireteam a reward.

Bungie aims for these new Forges to be a brand new endgame activity for the tougher Destiny 2 players. It certainly seems like you’ll want to do your fair share of Forges before the Scourge of the Past Raid launches on Friday, December 7, so you’ve got a chance at obtaining some of new Black Armory weapons on offer.
