Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter Release Date, Beta Phase, Battle Royale Mode - Everything we Know
This is our guide to the new Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter battle royale mode, including the beta testing phase, and more.
Bethesda revealed the new Nuclear Winter battle royale mode for Fallout 76 at their E3 2019 showcase, and it's in beta testing phase right now. In this guide to the Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter update, we'll be going over the final release date, how you can get access to the beta, and more.
Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter Release Date
Bethesda hasn't revealed a final Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter release date. All we know is that the battle royale mode is coming to the game in Fall 2019, but as we detail below, you can jump in and play the beta for Nuclear Winter right now.
We should note that although Nuclear Winter was announced alongside the Wastelanders update for Fallout 76, it's entirely seperate from the DLC pack. Nuclear Winter is a battle royale mode only, whereas Wastelanders features a brand new quest line with NPCs.
Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter Beta
The Nuclear Winter beta update is available to download right now, on all platforms. Download the 7GB patch on PC, PS4, or Xbox One, and you can jump into the Nuclear Winter sneak peek from now until June 17.
Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter Gameplay
Bethesda revealed Nuclear Winter through a brief teaser, with little gameplay. However, what we do know about gameplay for Fallout 76's battle royale mode is that it'll support 52 players, yourself included.
"Level up with exclusive perks," the official gameplay reveal for Nuclear Winter stated on-screen. So we know that there'll be a levelling system involved with Nuclear Winter, we just don't know how this will actually function.
It seems as though Nuclear Winter will support teamplay in squads when it does launch. We can see players helping each other up via Stimpacks in the gameplay teaser trailer, and at several points we can see squads of three players venturing out together in a trio.
Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter Price
When it does launch, Fallout 76's Nuclear Winter update will be free for all. It'll be launching for free on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
