Vermintide 2 Ranger Veteran Class Guide
The Ranger Veteran character goes by the name of Bardin Goreksson, the first character that you're rescuing during the Vermintide 2 prologue mission. As you can probably tell from the name of the class, the Ranger Veteran specializes in combat from a distance, although he has got a rather hefty hammer as a backup weapon.
The passive Ability for Bardin Goreksson is called Survivalist, and means that special enemies drop ammo pickups on death, while Bardin also gets double the ammo capacity and increased reload speed. Ammo is something you're going to run out of fairly often in Vermintide 2 while you're up against the horde of Skaven, so regular ammo pickups are a welcome bonus for the Ranger Veteran.
The additional Ability for Bardin in Disengage, which lets the Ranger Veteran throw down a smoke bomb on the battlefield, which conceals him from enemies as long as he remains within the cloud. It's a useful Ability if you find yourself overwhelmed by the horde of Skaven, but keep in mind that it'll only work for a very limited amount of time.
Vermintide 2 Ranger Veteran Class Upgrades
Just below, you can find both the unlockable classes for the Ranger Veteran, the first of which is unlocked at character level 7, and the second of which is unlocked at character level 12. You'll have to keep playing as Bardin in online matches of Vermintide 2, if you want to accumulate enough XP to level up and unlock both classes.
Ranger Veteran Ironbreaker Class:
This upgrade unlocked at level 7 gives Bardin the ability to completely absorb one hit every 20 seconds, and gives bonuses for stamina, stun resistance, and reduces damage taken. The Impenetrable ability lets Bardin taunt all enemies within 10 units, while also letting him block any incoming attack for up to 10 seconds.
Ranger Veteran Slayer Class:
For the level 12 unlockable Ranger Veteran class, Bardin has increased attack speed, while also stacking a damage buff every time he hits an enemy. There's also the Leap ability, which lets him jump forward and slam into enemies, while also increasing his attack speed temporarily.
Best Ranger Veteran Builds
In order to maximise the damage output of the Ranger Veteran, you’re going to have to pay close attention to the class that you’ve equipped while you’re playing. If, for example you’re going with the powerful Slayer class, then you’ll probably want to focus on quick, melee weapons while you’re playing as Bardin, but if you’re going with the standard Ranger Veteran class, we’d recommend focusing on taking a powerful ranged weapon over a strong melee weapon.
