Rage 2 Release Date, Gameplay, PC Specs, Multiplayer, Trailer - Everything we Know
This is your complete guide to Rage 2, including the final release date, all gameplay and trailers, PC specs, and more.
Rage 2 is now under a week away from releasing, and there's plenty to look forward to. The game looks set to combine id Software's expertise in shooting with Avalanche's open world building. In this guide to everything you need to know about Bethesda's shooter, we'll be going over the Rage 2 release date, all the gameplay and trailers we've seen so far, the full list of Rage 2 PC specs, and more.
Rage 2 Release Date
Back at The Game Awards 2018 of all places, the Rage 2 release date was first revealed. Rage 2 will release on May 14 later this month, and will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Rage 2 might seem like it's coming from nowhere, but it's actually following in the footsteps of Bethesda bringing back old (nearly dead) franchises and breathing new life into them. This happened with Prey (2) in 2017, a spiritual successor of sorts to the original Prey, that actually bore very little resemblance to the original game.

Below, we'll be going through the full range of Rage 2 PC specs. The game will support ultra-wide, and super ultra-wide monitors, the frame rate is uncapped, and you can turn the HUD of Rage 2 off entirely.

Rage 2 Gameplay
The first time we saw proper gameplay footage for Rage 2 was at Bethesda's E3 2018 presentation on June 10. The demo for Rage 2 kicked off with Andrew WK of all people taking the stage. After the awkward camera cuts to the perplexed audience, Avalanche developers came out to talk the game up.

Protagonist Walker kicked off the gameplay footage, talking about how his parents were killed, and that he's the last ranger of the wasteland. We then got some pre-alpha footage of Rage 2, where Walker is out to find a rare artifact.
In an interview with our sister site VG247, id studio director Tim Willits revealed that after the intro sequence of Rage 2 is over, "you can go anywhere." There are five total biomes within the game, including swampland, cities, forests and deserts. On top of this, Willits revealed that you can keep on exploring and return to the open world after the credits on Rage 2 have rolled.
What we know is that vehicle combat is a big part of Rage 2, and this is something that Avalanche Studios have experience with in 2015's Mad Max. There's also a variety of weapons including rocket launchers, shotguns, rifles and more, and it also looks like there are special abilities tied to the left hand of Walker, the character which you play.
Aside from the main character of Walker, we know that an asteroid crash landed into Earth, wiping out roughly 80 per cent of the human population. The remaining humans have formed themselves into factions, and it's these crazy factions that you get a glimpse of throughout the reveal trailer just above, and we can safely assume it's these factions that Walker will be fighting throughout Rag 2.
Rage 2 60FPS Details
Over on our sister site Eurogamer, Avalanche Software revealed that Rage 2 would not only be a strictly single player game, but also that it would hit 60FPS (frames per second) on certain consoles, as well as on PC.
As you might imagine, the consoles that will support steady 60FPS gameplay for Rage 2 will be the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X. The base versions of both these consoles unfortunately won't be able to reach the stable 60FPS setting, and we can only assume that these versions will be running at a reduced 30FPS.
Will Rage 2 Have Multiplayer?
The simple answer to this is no, Rage 2 will not have multiplayer. The game is strictly single player, taking you round the wasteland apocalypse entirely on your own. There won't be any multiplayer aspect of Rage 2 at all.
This is everything right now that we know for certain and can speculate about Rage 2, but keep an eye on this guide, as we'll be updating it in the future with all further details of the game that are unveiled by Bethesda.
