Guide by Jake Green, .

Fallout 76 is a slightly different approach to a Fallout game than what we've seen previously. It's online-only for one, andyou'll be playing in a server with a bunch of other players. This being a Fallout game though, many fans have been wondering whether or not it is possible to play solo. In this guide, we'll explain whether Fallout 76 has a single player mode. We'll use developer comments, as well as our own experience to answer it, so that you can go in knowing exactly what you're going to get.

Can you Play Fallout 76 Solo?

During Bethesda's E3 2018 Press Conference, Director at Bethesda Game Studios Todd Howard took to the stage to confirm theories that Fallout 76 is an online experience. He then went on to reveal that the game can in fact be played solo as well. According to Howard, players can explore the world, complete quests and level up, all without the need to team up with other players. He later commented that teaming up is the easiest way to play the game.

While this does answer some questions about the game, it also raises some important ones. Namely whether or not playing the game solo will require players to merely switch to a private server, and whether or not this will be the full experience. Bethesda recently revealed via a Tweet that "Every surviving human is another player", confirming that there are no NPCs in Fallout 76 world, so it's likely that without other players, it'll be a pretty lonely place.

Fallout 76 Does Not Have a Singleplayer Mode

Now that we've had some time to play Fallout 76 we can confirm that there is not a singleplayer mode in Fallout 76. The 'solo' play that Howard was referring to at E3 was likely just playing without teammates, still sharing a server with other players.
