Fire Emblem Three Houses Release Date
All the way back in January 2017 during a Nintendo Direct presentation, it was revealed that the next main Fire Emblem game would be coming to the Nintendo Switch at some point during 2018. Finally, at Nintendo's E3 2018 presentation, we were given the Fire Emblem Three Houses release date of 2019 for the upcoming game.
Fire Emblem Three Houses E3 2018 Gameplay
Along with the announcement of a release window for Fire Emblem Three Houses at Nintendo's E3 2018 presentation, a brand new gameplay trailer was shown off. In the full gameplay reveal seen just below, you can see Fire Emblem Three Houses in action for the very first time, and it definitely looks different to past games in the series.
Just below, you can see a few screenshots from combat in Fire Emblem Three Houses. The important thing to remember is that the game is maintaining the turn based combat loop, where characters lead troops across the battlefield. You can even freely move around as your character at some point, interacting with specific characters while in battle.
Fire Emblem Three Houses Character Design
As of right now, we don't yet know which characters from the Fire Emblem universe will be appearing in Fire Emblem Three Houses. However if you take a look at the screenshot just below, this character looks something like Tiki. This character is the Princess of the Divine Dragon tribe, and daughter of Naga. She's so powerful, that it's rumored the character could sink a continent with her pure power, were she to die.
However after the E3 2018 showcase from Nintendo was over, the artwork pictured just below found its way online. These are supposedly the titular three houses of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and are led by Edelgard von Fresberg, Dimitri Alexandre Bladud, and Claude von Regan. They're definitely some striking looking characters, and a definite change from previous character designs, as Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia director Kenta Nakanishi previously revealed.

Furthermore, you can see some colorful screenshots of Fire Emblem Three Houses just below. The game is set in the brand new world of Fodlan, where the Church or Seiros exercises complete control over the people and the land.
The reveal trailer for Fire Emblem on the Nintendo Switch, which you can see just below, was originally released back in January 2017. At the time, the project went by the nickname of 'Fire Emblem Switch', and it wasn't until the E3 2018 presentation that the name of 'Three Houses' was revealed.
But we do know that when the characters for Fire Emblem Three Houses eventually appear, they'll look a lot different from the characters in Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates. In an interview translated by Kantopia, Fire Emblem Shadows of Valentia director Kenta Nakanishi revealed that the characters in the forthcoming game would have "slightly more natural" character proportions, thanks to the experience the team gained after Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates.
The Shadows of Valentia director also stated that the characters for Fire Emblem Three Houses would have more realistic movement when compared with the last two main titles released on Nintendo 3DS. All this combines to make Fire Emblem Three Houses sound extremely promising for both its character design and battle system.
That's it for everything we know so far surrounding the upcoming Fire Emblem Three Houses project, but make sure to keep an eye on this guide, as we'll be updating it with all the forthcoming information that we hear from either Nintendo, or any leaks online.
