Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the hottest game in the world right now, even though it might still be a few years off. In this Cyberpunk 2077 everything we know guide, we'll be detailing everything you need to know about the game so far, including the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay that we saw back at E3 2018, as well as possible Cyberpunk 2077 romance options. There's also a healthy amount of speculation on a Cyberpunk 2077 release date, as well as details that were recently revealed about the Cyberpunk 2077 character creator.

Cyberpunk 2077 might still be a long way off, potentially launching on the next generation of consoles. We'll make sure to keep this guide on CD Projekt RED's next game completely up to date with all the latest information, so you've got a complete hub of knowledge right here.

Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date

CD Projekt RED first revealed Cyberpunk 2077 a whole five years ago, back in January 2015. You can see the trailer just below, which was released while The Witcher 3 was still very much in development.

Skip five years ahead, and we’ve got plenty more information on the upcoming sci-fi action-RPG game from the Polish studio. All that and more you can find just below, but unfortunately what we don't have is a final Cyberpunk 2077 release date, or even release year.

This would lead us to believe that Cyberpunk 2077 is at least two years away. CD Projekt RED isn't afraid to announce a release date and then delay a hotly anticipated game, as we saw with The Witcher 3. So it makes sense for Cyberpunk to be deep in development, with a long road yet to go. We do have some details on what hardware the PC build of the game will be running on in our Cyberpunk 2077 PC Specs Guide.

CD Projekt has said that Cyberpunk 2077 is targeting current-gen consoles, including PS4 and Xbox One, but clearly the game will be arriving at a time close to or into the next-generation. We'll have to wait and see if Cyberpunk 2077 is a cross-generation game.

Cyberpunk 2077 Preview Impressions

Our sister site Eurogamer recently saw 50 minutes of uncut Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay footage at E3 2018. Eurogamer saw gameplay of Night City, the opening level in which the game takes place.

As a FPS, Cyberpunk 2077 features a slow motion ability, as well as a tactical slide. All the enemies in the game have life bars above their heads, and damage numbers will pop out of them each time you land a hit. Cyberpunk 2077 also featured full frontal nudity, and you can even take an NPC of your choice back to your apartment for a one night stand.

Later on in E3 2018, USgamer saw Cyberpunk 2077 behind closed doors. "The opening of the demo felt a bit small, taking place in an apartment where V and burly street samurai partner Jackie were attempting to rescue someone. Of course, the folks standing in your way don't take too kindly to your actions and everything gets heated. It's here that Cyberpunk 2077 reveals that it's partially a cover shooter", wrote our Mike Williams.

We ultimately came away very impressed with what we'd seen of the game, as Mike put it: "Cyberpunk 2077 at times reminds me of the later Deus Ex games and Syndicate, but it looks like it might succeed where those faltered". The choices are deep and varied, matched only by the level of intrigue of Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer

In the very first trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 that you can see above, we saw a futuristic city, with a suitably kitted out police force. They were taking down an unarmed woman with cybernetic arms, while a police drone patrolled the area above, scanning for details. It certainly set up a tantalizing setting for the upcoming game.

At Microsoft's E3 2018 presentation on June 10, we got the trailer just below for Cyberpunk 2077. This trailer shows us more about the life inside the futuristic city, along with a clear art style, a big difference from something futuristic like Blade Runner.

Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2018 Gameplay Details

However it wasn’t until E3 2018 that we got our first proper glimpse of Cyberpunk 2077 in action. CD Projekt RED appeared on the Microsoft stage on June 10, to reveal the first slice of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay for the world to see, for the very first time.

The full trailer just above shows off a little more of the artistic direction of Cyberpunk 2077, rather than outright gameplay. We can see people going about their everyday jobs, as well as androids and cops patrolling the streets. It's definitely a taster for the world to come.

It has since been revealed that there might be multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2077. You can head here to read more on whether or not Cyberpunk 2077 will have multiplayer.

After this however, it was revealed by those who had seen Cyberpunk 2077 in action that the game would play as a first person shooter. There will also be third-person elements, which you can read about in this Cyberpunk 2077 First Person guide. This is a huge departure from previous games that CD Projekt RED has made, but there are still the core mechanics of an RPG to be found in the game, with detailed dialogue options that we've come to know from The Witcher 3.

Cyberpunk 2077 Character Creation

One aspect that wasn't shown off in the trailer was whether we'd be forced to play as the character giving the narration in Cyberpunk 2077. It was then revealed by CD Projekt RED studio President Adam Kiciński that the game would feature character creation from scratch.

As you can see in the tweet just above from the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, we'll be playing a character called V in the game. Our role in the game is basically a hacker, fighting back against mega corporations that dominate the world. Cyberpunk 2077 Romance Options

We briefly mentioned above that you, as V, can take an NPC back to your apartment for a one night stand. In an interview with Game Informer, quest designer Patrick Mills revealed that V will have far more romance options available than Geralt had in The Witcher 3.

"We've got NPCs that are gay, we've got NPCs that are bi, we've got NPCs that are straight, because we want them to feel real and that they have preferences as well", says Mills. "We're aiming for big, complicated relationships that continue over the course of the game, but also casual encounters that don't matter that much."

It certainly sounds like CD Projekt RED is trying to push romance options a lot further than they have previously. Whereas Geralt was limited by his defined gender, you can be male or female in Cyberpunk 2077, opening up options for your protagonist to be gay, lesbian, or bi. We've got more details on how romance will work in the game in our Cyberpunk 2077 Romance Guide.

Cyberpunk 2077 is very much an ongoing project from CD Projekt RED. As such, we’ll be constantly updating this guide to reflect any new announcements that the developer makes for the action-RPG, especially over the coming week while news from E3 2018 comes out thick and fast.

I so which I was with you guys watching it in action. Witcher's always had annoying combat which is the one big thing I wish was better with CD Red. If this has all the love put in the characters and dialog but makes combat feels right this will destroy me since I'll be playing it nonstop for a long time.

I hate your titles. It has already been confirmed that it will not have multiplayer at launch. I see you just making excuses for writing half-assed articles.
