All the New Madden 20 Ultimate Team Details Revealed so Far
Here's all the new details on Madden 20 Ultimate Team, including Superstars, X-Factor abilities, player Archetypes and more.
Just recently, the changes coming to the Madden 20 Ultimate Team mode were detailed by EA. Ultimate Team, or MUT, is always the single biggest mode with the longest life span after the game first launches. In our Madden 20 Ultimate Team guide, we'll be going over all the new details and key features coming to the mode for this year's iteration of the game.
Madden 20 Ultimate Team Changes
As of right now, there's under four months until Madden 20 eventually launches in August. We can probably expect to hear additional details about changes coming to the game, especially during the EA Play livestreams at E3 2019 in June. As of right now though, we've divided up the guide below by the new aspects and additions for Madden 20 Ultimate Team.

Madden 20 Ultimate Team Missions
"Solo challenges are dead," Madden 20 executive producer Jake Stein proclaimed in a livestream on May 16. New to Ultimate Team this year are Challenges. Before you take on a Challenge, you can select from a one, two, or three star difficulty rating, where the higher the difficulty level, the better the rewards.
But there are optional "bonus goals" within each challenge to increase your star rating. So if you take on a one star challenge at the lowest difficulty level, you can actually increase this challenge up to three star by completing two bonus goals, and claim the rewards as if you'd started out undertaking a three star challenge.

You can also take on Madden 20 Ultimate Team Challenges with online friends. The basic concept here is to apparently make taking on solo activities "less lonely" for Madden 20, although we're still not entirely sure how exactly you and your friend are going to be able to take on one particular challenge together.
Madden 20 X-Factors
Over on our Madden 20 gameplay changes guide, we previously outlined X-Factor players, which take the form of 50 unique players with special talents. However you won't simply be able to load up your Madden 20 Ultimate Team with X-Factor players. Instead, you'll have to choose three X-Factor players for offense, and three for defense.
You need to designate the six total X-Factor players for their roles before you head into a game of Madden 20 Ultimate Team. We're not entirely sure whether EA means you'll have to manually toggle X-Factor players' abilities on and off, so we'll have to wait and see for more information.

Madden 20 Player Archetypes
In the Madden 20 Ultimate Team broadcast on May 16, EA detailed Archetypes for players. Every player that is assigned an Archetype will have abilities that are unique to them. For example, Tom Brady being a 'field general' Archetype gives him an ability for perfect passing when in the red zone, or perfect deep passes.
But if a player is assigned to one particular Archetype, it means they won't have abilities from other Archetypes. So with Brady being a field general, he won't have an ability for escaping the pocket quickly, or scrambling down the field.
