Now that you've mounted the giant elephant, Divine Beast Vah Ruta in Breath of the Wild, you'll be delving into its labyrinthine internals. From getting the map to scaling the beast, you'll find everything you need to know here. Follow our guide closely and you'll be just fine.

How to get the map inside Vah Ruta
First you'll want to head inside where you'll immediately see a demonic eye looking at you. Killing these with a standard arrow will clear away some of the malevolent gunk blocking your way.
To get the map, move into the room, defeat the Guardian and then look over the body of water – the centre of it is shallow enough to walk over. There's a gate at the end clogged by similar gunk to before – shoot its eye which is just submerged, and then use Cryonis to lift the gate up. Activate the terminal inside to get the map.
Now you've got the map you'll be able to control Vah Ruta's trunk from the map screen, allowing you to raise it and control the spray of water coming from Vah Ruta's trunk.
On the other side of the room there's another body of water, next to a ramp which leads into another room. There's a handle you can rotate using Magnesis on the wall just above the water, rotate this fully to reveal the first terminal.
Go through the exit of the room, to the right of the gate you used Cryonis on, and walk up the ramp into the water wheel room.
The second terminal is on the water wheel right in front of you. Wait until it is submerged and up right, then use Cryonis to freeze the water spinning the wheel at its source – this will drain some of the water and allow you to use the second terminal.
Move through the door on the opposite side of where you came in and around Vah Ruta's body – you'll come to face a third terminal, but it's behind a gate.
Use your map screen to angle Vah Ruta's trunk so that the larger water wheel starts turning – you'll notice there's an orb pierced with a rod in the water wheel, and the gate to the third terminal will only open when the orb is touching the centre of the water wheel.
Use Stasis to freeze the orb in its slot just before it slides back out to extend the length of time the gate stays open for, then hop in and use the third terminal. The gate will stay open once it is activated.
You can now use this water wheel as an elevator to get up to the top floor. Head back to where the smaller wheel is and you can hop onto the larger one from there. At the top is a Guardian to kill.
Stand on the switch to the left to activate a waterfall – this can be used as shortcut if you fall back down to the entrance. Head through the corridor facing the water wheel and you'll meet Vah Ruta's trunk – stretch it out all the way to the end.
From here you can paraglide to the tip of Vah Ruta's trunk where there's a platform on the very edge. Once here, tilt Vah Ruta's trunk to be shooting as far up as possible. As it moves stay on a flat surface so you don't slide off and slowly walk around where the water streams from the trunk. A terminal will raise from the other side of the trunk's tip, and you'll be able to use it once it is upright. Watch the water spray doesn't knock you off the platform in this section.
From here jump to a platform on your left that'll have a goo-eye guarding a chest. From here you'll be able to see something fiery happening where Vah Ruta's head is. Jump onto his head to find a small hole you can jump into.
In here you'll see another goo-eye – get rid of it – and another metal handle to rotate. This one opens a hatch in the roof, so open it fully. Now angle Vah Ruta's trunk so the water spray comes in through the roof – it'll douse the flames around the terminal, allowing you to use it.
Now you've got the final terminal you can jump down from here, past the large water wheel, and down into the first room – the one where you used Cryonis to lift the gate. You now want to go down into that room next to the first metal handle, the main terminal is in here, activate it to face the scourge of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta, Waterblight Ganon...
Now that you've solved Vah Ruta's puzzles you'll be pretty well equipped for future dungeons, but they only get harder from here on out...
