Madden 19 Ultimate Team is once again to be a massive feature in the upcoming sports sim from EA. In this MUT 19 everything we know guide, we'll be compiling everything we know about the return of the arguably the biggest mode in the game so far, including changes to the Madden 19 player upgrades, as well as how the MUT 19 chemistry system works, after it's received a few changes from EA.
If you instead need to get up to speed with all of the details on the next iteration of Madden, you’ll want to check out our Madden 19 everything we know guide. It’s in this guide that we’ll be going over all the details released so far about the wider game of Madden, as well as all the future dates that EA has pencilled in for announcements about the game.
Madden 19 Ultimate Team Guide
As always, Ultimate Team is one of the more popular modes in Madden, and it looks set to continue that tradition for Madden 19. EA has usually kept the mode fresh and popular throughout the year as the NFL season rolls on, by adding in new editions of players, like the Halloween special editions of players like JJ Watt, or the Super Bowl edition of Tom Brady.
Firstly, one of the returning features for Madden 19’s MUT mode this year is that Team Chemistry is back. There are now 25 total slots to fill on offense and defence this year, and every single one of these positions will count towards your overall Team Chemistry.
Madden 19 MUT Player Upgrades
One of the big changes to this year’s edition of Madden Ultimate Team (or MUT), is that upgrading individual player cards has been overhauled. Whereas last year in Madden 18 you had to gather together as many Team Tokens as necessary to upgrade a player, this year in Madden 19 you’ll be upgrading them through Training.
You earn Training primarily be quick-selling items you don’t need anymore, according to EA. However they aren’t revealing any additional details on the new Training currency right now, but we’ll be sure to update this guide whenever EA details anything new about the new MUT Training items.
Finally, EA has entirely removed the need to go into a set in order to upgrade a card in Madden 19’s MUT mode. You’ll be able to upgrade that individual card right there on the screen, provided you’ve got all the necessary items, of course.
But there’s one massive catch to all of this: once you’ve upgraded a player card, you won’t be able to sell or trade it on the MUT market. This means that you’ll only ever be able to find the base versions of player cards on the MUT market, and you’ll have to do all the upgrade work yourself.
Madden 19 MUT Solo Battles
In this brand new feature for MUT in Madden 19, you’ll be entirely going up against the AI. There will be thirteen total games each week against the AI, and you’ll be wanting to earn the top Battle Score possible, which is the accumulation of winning the game and how many points you score.
There are fourteen total reward tiers in MUT’s Solo Battles mode. While EA aren’t quite ready to detail all the rewards you can earn through these challenges, it was revealed that some of the top 100 players in the NFL can be earned for your MUT team this way.
Madden 19 MUT Squads
MUT Squads are back in Madden 19 Ultimate Team, and this year you can play against the AI in the Squad Challenges mode. Right now we don’t have a lot of information on what will be new about Squads this year, but we do know that you’ll be able to team up with two other players, and take on the AI in various challenging games all throughout the season.
We might be all wrapped up with this complete Madden 19 Ultimate Team guide for now, but you can now check out our best Madden 19 players page. As EA has now released complete ratings for every player in the game, we can detail the very best 10 players in the game for you.
