In order to build the best possible team in Pokemon Quest, you'll need the best possible pokemon. And while there are different situations that call for different pokemon, there are some pokemon which are undoubtedly better than others. In this Pokemon Quest Best Pokemon Guide, we'll run you through the best of the best. We'll touch on the best moves for pokemon like Alakazam and Mewtwo, and offer some tips on when to use each best pokemon in Pokemon Quest.

There’s plenty more to see in Pokemon Quest so we’ve been busy putting together a ton of guides to help you. Head over to our Pokemon Quest Guides hub for details on how best to lure pokemon, all of the recipes explained in Pokemon Quest, a breakdown of exactly how Evolutions work, and more.

Best Pokemon in Pokemon Quest

As in any Pokemon game, there is no one-stop answer for who the best pokemon is Pokemon Quest, but there are some that do seem to be surprisingly powerful at preset. The following list is the best pokemon you can find in Pokemon Quest, made up of pokemon that you should absolutely have in your team.

  • Machamp - If you’re looking for an absolute defensive tank to put into your party, you can’t do much better than Machamp using Bulk Up. Even in later stages, it holds its ground and very rarely goes down. Machamp will evolve from Machoke at level 36. Definitely one of the best pokemon in Pokemon Quest.
  • Alakazam - For your attacking pokemon, go for an Alakazam. Its Psychic attack is quite possibly the best in terms of DPS, and is sure to take bosses down with ease. Alakazam will evolve from Kadabra at Level 36.
  • Golem - As long as you ensure it has Dig, Golem is one of the best ranged attackers there is. Dig is an incredibly powerful AOE attack, and Golem is just as hardy as you’d expect. Cook up some Stone Soup a la Cube to attract Rock-Type Pokemon.
  • Kangaskan - There’s one build in particular that makes Kangaskan a great choice for those looking to do a ton of damage. Equip it with Whack Whack and Wait Less power stones then spam Mega Punch. You won’t be disappointed with the results. Cook up some Plain Crepe a la Cube to attract normal-type Pokemon.

Now you know some of the best pokemon in Pokemon Quest, you should head over to our Pokemon Quest Recipes Guide to learn the best ways to get them.

How to Build the Best Team in Pokemon Quest

There are lots of different options to consider when building a team in Pokemon Quest, meaning it's not just about putting together the best pokemon. Different Expeditions call for different teams from time to time, but there are some general tips and tricks, and bases you need to cover to ensure you have the best possible chance at surviving each wave. We’ve gathered them together in the following list:

  • Defensive Pokemon -You’ll need at least one defense-focused pokemon in your team, to hold down the front of the pack. Add in power stones which boost HP, and move stones which allow defensive buffs to be shared across the team, like the Sharing Stone.
  • Ranged, AoE Pokemon - Once you’ve got your defensive element sorted, you’re naturally going to move onto attacks. Make sure you have a pokemon in your team that excels at long-ranged, AoE attacks. This will allow you to do damage to multiple enemies at once, at a distance. You’ll want to use power stones which boost the attack stat, and move stones which increase spread like the BroadBurst Stone
  • Melee, up close and personal Pokemon - Finally you want a pokemon that can do as much DPS as possible, and at a relatively close range. This pokemon should be used as your go-to in terms of beating bosses, and should be bolstered by attack power stones and the Wait Less move stone so they can attack more frequently

Once you have these basic elements down, experiment with plugging in different pokemon into each role, and pay attention to any move stones you get while playing. A lot of it will come down to personal preference, but in the late stages especially, you’ll need a balanced team covering all three roles.

We’ll be updating this list as we find more of the best pokemon in Pokemon Quest, and any more roles to consider in your team. If you have any suggestions, feel free to drop them in the comments. I've pulled two shiny Pokemon so far (Spearow and Bulbasaur). Don't know if this helps the odds, but both times, I had made a single-color meal (all apricorn when I pulled Spearow, all honey when I got Bulbasaur).
And if this helps anyone else, did all icy stone in a bronze pot, didn't get a shiny there, but I did pull 2 Dratini and a Tangela with just the one meal.

I get why people try Free to Play on console but outside of Fortnight I can't really think of another big console Free to Play game. Especially when monetization is part of the gameplay. Pac-Man 256 I felt handle things well enough. Free to Play on mobile and $5 or so bucks on console and took out the monetization and just let people enjoy it.

I got a shiny Meowth but honestly I couldn't even tell until it said I had completed the challenge get to get a shiny pokemon. It doesn't really look different to me even as an evolved Persian. It has a star in the corner though so I know it's not an error lol.

Does any one know what level Tangela evolves? In standard Pokémon games it evolves into Tangrowth if you level up while knowing ancient power. Does that mean I have to reteach Tangela until she learns ancient power? Or does it evolve at a certain level

The recipe for the Ground food is 2 Fossils and 3 Big Roots, found this through testing. Tried the combination thinking it seemed kinda Groundy and it turned out to be correct. Got a Cubone from this.

@Noodle2002 Tangrowth isn't in this game because it was introduced in Gen 4, Diamond & Pearl. Quest only has Gen 1 so unfortunately you can't obtain later-Gen evolutions like Tangrowth (4), Crobat (2), Slowing (2), Magnezone (4), etc.

The best way to level up and evolve is by cooking and attracting the same type of Pokemons, then use them for training. There's the app that helped me a lot when I played Pokemon Quest. It generates the recipes based on how many ingredients you have, and you can filter by pot, quality or recipe type.

Are you retarded? For one, the best buffer is Machop, because Machops bingos can go up to 45% cooldown ratio of the move bulk up, and it's usually a 20 second cooldown for each bulk up you apply, and each stack has its own cooldown, without Machop, it takes 8 seconds to cast each bulk up, so 3 stacks requires a 24 second cast time, but with machops 45% CDR, it's less then 15 seconds to get all 3 stacks off, and 3 stacks gives a 80% buff, the cap, to every Pokemon on your team. And for two, psychic is not the best fucking DPS in the game. Starmie hydro pump is. People are getting 1:00 clears on the last stage with that. Nobody even uses psychic Alakazam as the "best team" you're so dumb. At least do some research. Even Vine whip on a Bulbasaur is better then psychic. And you also forget that evolving pokemon lower the bingos you receive. You seem to be very misinformed on everything, I don't think creating this guide was your best idea.
EDIT: Yeah...stick to a beginner's guide. Sorry if this sounded harsh. But I hate misleading content. People like Verlisify are annoying. But you actually changed everything around. I believe that you do not have any misleading motives, so therefore I am not annoyed at you.Edited 5 times. Last edited 5 hours ago by hterrance15
