The Destiny 2 Warmind expansion marks the second big content drop for the game, featuring new Strikes and new Exotics, but you'll have to pay up if you want access to all the new content. In this Destiny 2 Warmind guide, we'll be walking you through everything you need to know to get started with the new DLC, including the new Destiny 2 Power Level cap, the new Mars hub area, as well as all the various new Warmind Exotics you can unlock.

The Warmind expansion marks the second big DLC drop for Destiny 2, after the Curse of Osiris expansion launched back in early December 2017. Whereas the Curse of Osiris expansion for Destiny 2 mirrored the Dark Below expansion for the original Destiny, the Warmind DLC brings plenty more content to the base game, not unlike the House of Wolves expansion for the original Destiny.

Filling up the second big DLC slot for Destiny 2, the Warmind expansion released worldwide on May 8, 2018, for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One players worldwide. However just like the Curse of Osiris expansion, the Warmind DLC pack isn't free, and it'll set you back by a certain amount if you want to gain access to all the brand new content.

There are two ways to gain access to the Warmind expansion for Destiny 2: you can either purchase the Destiny 2 expansion pass, or you can purchase the Warmind expansion on its own. Either way you'll need to own the base version of Destiny 2, but the Warmind expansion will set you back by $19.99 if you purchase it on its own, which is a little more than the previous cost of $16.99 for the Curse of Osiris expansion.

Destiny 2 Warmind Mars Story

Each new Destiny 2 expansion brings with it a brand new single player campaign for you to undertake, and the Warmind expansion looks to be no different. Players will be travelling to Mars for the first time in Destiny 2 for the Warmind campaign, and you can see screenshots below for the opening two story missions of Warmind, which take place back to back on Mars.

The main plot of the Warmind expansion for Destiny 2 revolves around the Warmind Rasputin, one of the big bads back in the original Destiny. This time however, it's just awoken from a deep slumber on Mars, along with an entire legion of Hive at its disposal. You'll have your work cut out on Hellas Basin to try and put Rasputin back in the ground.

Unfortunately the main story for the Warmind expansion really isn't that long, numbering right around six single player missions in total. This includes the two missions listed above, and you'll also be playing through levels that will be reused in the Will of the Thousands and the Strange Terrain Strikes.

Destiny 2 Mars Hub Guide

Just below, you can see the full map of the Hellas Basin region on Mars, where the majority of the Warmind expansion for Destiny 2 will be taking place. This is the map and hub area that you'll unlock after you've successfully completed both the story missions that we've detailed above, both of which shouldn't take much more than around 15 minutes to complete.

Once you've unlocked the planet of Mars for exploration, you're going to have a few new events to partake in. Firsly, there are several brand new Public Events to complete, including the new Warsat Down event, as well as the new Escalation Protocol, which you can only initiate from certain locations scattered around the Mars map.

Finally, you'll have Ana Bray as a brand new gear vendor in the northern section of the Mars map in the Warmind expansion. It's through Bray that you'll obtain some of the elite new items in the DLC, including where you'll turn Rasputin Key Fragments into Encrypted Cache Keys, as well as trading in Mars Tokens to unlock new Cradle Engrams.

Destiny 2 Warmind Level Cap Increase

Just like in the Curse of Osiris expansion last December, there's be a base level cap increase with the Warmind expansion, as well as a Power Level cap increase. For the base level of your Guardian(s), there level cap earned through XP will increase from 25 to 30, giving you five extra level to grind up before that XP can go back towards earning you Bright Engrams from Tess at the Eververse Trading Company.

As for the Power Level of your Guardian, it's a little more complicated. The Warmind DLC will introduce a new Power Level cap for Guardians of 380, but this can actually be increased using weapon and armor mods to Power Level 385.

There'll also be a big change to the way obtaining gear works in the Warmind DLC. All blue/rare gear items will now drop at a maximum item level of 340, and on top of this, all endgame content like the Strikes, Raid Lair, and the Leviathan Raid will be getting a buff in the items that they reward you with, meaning it's easier for you to grind up and hit that maximum 385 Power Level cap.

Destiny 2 New Warmind Strikes

There are two brand new Strikes featured as part of the Warmind DLC pack for Destiny 2, these being the Strange Terrain and the Will of the Thousands Strikes. You can see several screenshots for the Strange Terrain Strike just below:

There is however a third Strike in the Warmind DLC expansion, but it's unfortunately only available to PS4 players, due to a Sony exclusivity deal with Activision. To round out all the brand new features of the Destiny 2 Warmind DLC expansion, there's the brand new Public Event on Mars to take into account, which you can see a few screenshots of just below:

The Public Event detailed just above is known as 'Warsat Down', and challenges you and any other players to defend a fallen Warsat for a certain amount of time, while holding back the encroaching Hive.     Actually, the only way to get the shriekers to open is to kill the two wizards who spawn and trigger a "Hive suppression field". Unlike all the other orange bar adds that spawn during the event, the wizards you need to kill appear in a soulfire summoning circle, this is another way to identify that they're the ones you need to kill to activate the shriekers.

    It's crucial to not stay in the circle around the warsat once the witches spawn or you risk fishing the event before the other witches spawn allowing you to activate and destroy the other shriekers.

    There are three spawns of 2 wizards, once the final shrieker is down, then it will turn heroic and the Hive will summon the ogre.

    Sadly, it's all too easy for someone unaware, or intentionally trolling, to stay near the warsat and finish the event before all the wizards have spawned.
