Assassin's Creed Odyssey E3 2018 Trailer
The trailer for Assassin's Creed Odyssey was unveiled at Ubisoft's E3 2018 presentation on June 11. It shows the story of Alexios, as he embarks on a journey against enemies around Greece.
The war between Sparta and Anthens is going to play a central role in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. We're going to play the role of a simple mercenary in the game, and as Ubisoft announced on stage, this is definitely an RPG game.
In the full gameplay demo for Assassin's Creed Odyssey just above, we can see Kassandra taking a tour of Greece. The game looks visually stunning, with colors of ancient Greece popping off the screen at you as Kassandra ventured around an island.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey Hands-On Preview Impressions
During E3 2018, our sister site VG24/7 went hands-on with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and Kirk McKeand sums it up as "it’s as if Origins and Black Flag had a baby, and that baby grew up to land a job at BioWare".
Although Odyssey provides you with a bunch of new tools, like being able to light your arrows in a flaming brazier, or kick enemies off a cliff, your crime is tracked. If you kill too many innocents or steal too much gold, a bounty will be placed on your head. You'll then be hunted down by a mercenary, and you can either pay off a fine, or fight them to the death.
The Adrestia is your ship, and you can upgrade the sails, hull, and rowing power of the boat. You can also recruit almost any character in the world to be a part of your crew, and Ubisoft even recorded a 16th century Spanish galleon to capture the sound of the vessel.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Setting
Ubisoft has confirmed that he game will be set in Ancient Greece, though further details are not currently known. Slightly before the Ubisoft E3 2018 presentation however, some new details were revealed about the Greek setting of the game, which you can see just below.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Main Characters
There were originally rumors that both Bayek and Aya would be returning in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, but not as playable characters. This was revealed by be true shortly before the Ubisoft E3 2018 showcase on June 11, where the playable characters of Alexios and Kassandra were revealed, and both have the same story in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
At the very beginning of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, we're going to have to choose which character we want to play as. The characters have the same storyline, and the blood of a Spartan hero runs in their blood.
But what about a canon character for Assassin's Creed Odyssey? In a recent Reddit AMA, creative director Jonathan Dumont said that Kassandra will be the canon character for the game. Answering the question of "would there be a canon character between Alexios and Kassandra, Dumont answered "Yes there will be a canon represented in the novel. It features Kassandra and her journey. But in the game you decide your path, there is no right or wrong way".
Assassin’s Creed Gameplay Details
Assassin’s Creed: Origins drastically changed the gameplay from what the series was used to up to that point. It added in a heavier emphasis on RPG elements and a more extensive gear management system. This is all set to continue in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, as Ubisoft continues to move into the established RPG territory.
Outside of this, there'll be a big focus on naval combat in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Alexios and Kassandra have a larger map to play with in Odyssey than Bayek had in Origins, and both characters have ties to the first civilisation.
Sokrates, of all people is going to be making an appearance in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. There will also be dialogue options in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, a first for a game in the storied franchise.
