The Octo Samurai might not look it, but he's actually a fairly nimble boss, particularly since he's mounted upon what appears to be a unicycle. This might be one of the largest bosses in the game, but in this Splatoon 2 Octo Samurai Boss guide we'll give you all the tips and tricks you need to easily take down the Octo Samurai in no time at all.

But, if this wasn't what you were after, why not check out our Splatoon 2 tips and tricks guide, where you can find masses of information on how to dominate your opponents in Turf War, as well as the best gear and weapons to unlock with your hard earned cash.

How to Beat Octo Samurai in Splatoon 2

Well, this Octo Samurai looks quite intimidating, but he's fairly easy to take down. Circle the boss either side, dodging out of the way and going in to splat the samurai whenever he performs an area attack on the ground. Once you've done a few of these, he'll rev up and ride his splat roller like a weird motorbike. Dodge this quickly, and move in for the splat just like you did before. Once you've covered the samurai in ink, he'll go down and the tentacle will appear, open to attack.

The second stage of the Octo Samurai boss fight is basically the same as the first, except you'll want to keep your screen on the face of the boss as you circle around him. Whenever his eye glints for a split second, he'll unleash a devastating sweeping attack all around him right afterwards, so make sure you put some distance between you both before this. The samurai can still execute his motorbike move, but he'll go down exactly the same as he did before, leaving the tentacle open once again to attack.

In the third and final stage of the Octo Samurai boss fight, he'll unleash three ink attacks in a row, each painting a line of ink across the battlefield. Dodge this by circling him, and then move in for the attack, covering him in your own ink once again. The ink samurai can still perform all his previous attacks though, so make sure to once again watch out for the glint in his eye and when he revs up the motorbike attack. But taking him down is still done in the same way, and this time the tentacle thankfully won't re-emerge.

Tips and Strategies for Beating Splatoon 2's Octo Samurai Boss

  • Keep on your toes! It's never a good idea to stay still for long in Splatoon 2, particularly when facing the Octo Samurai.
  • Whenever the Octo Samurai backs off, move towards him, cutting down the distance so he isn't free to charge up an attack.
  • When you are moving towards the boss, make sure you move to either side, not travelling in a straight line so he can get in an easy hit on you with an area attack.
