Dauntless Orbs - Where to Farm Orbs in Dauntless

Dauntless Orbs - Where to Farm Orbs in Dauntless

This is our guide to earning Dauntless Orbs as quickly as possible, to level up your weapons and armor.

Orbs can be somewhat tricky to come across in Dauntless, and they actually play a pretty huge role in the crafting system of the game. In this Dauntless Orbs guide, we'll be walking you through how to farm Orbs in Dauntless. We'll also be explaining the role of Orbs within the game, and how crucial they are to upgrading your existing gear.

How to Farm Dauntless Orbs

In Dauntless, you're going to earn Orbs every time you defeat a monster of a certain element type. For example, if you went and took down the Lesser Boreus (or a fully formed Boreus), you'd be rewarded with Frost Orbs because the element type of the Boreus is Frost. However, there's a catch to this. You need to undertake a Patrol in order to stand a chance of earning Orbs. You won't earn Orbs from slaying monsters in normal Pursuits, but you instead need to embark on a Patrol from the Hunt Board in order to earn orbs.

Dauntless also grants you a hidden bonus for your first six hunts of each day. Your first six successful hunts for the day in Dauntless will reward you with 10 bonus Orbs, so if you're after one specific type of Orb in order to upgrade your existing gear, you should make it your priority to grind out a monster of that element type straight away.

Dauntless Orbs Explained

We mentioned that Orbs are integral to the crafting system used by Dauntless. Instead of being used to craft items like weapons and armor in the first place, you're going to be using Orbs in Dauntless to upgrade existing gear items you've already acquired. Below, we'll list out all the different types of Orbs in the game.

  • Neutral Orbs
  • Blaze Orbs
  • Frost Orbs
  • Radiant Orbs
  • Umbral Orbs
  • Terra Orbs
  • Shock Orbs

So for example, if you wanted to upgrade an Ember Cutlass sword, you'd need a Blaze Orb in order to upgrade the weapon, because its elemental attack is Blaze. As of right now, it would appear that you need 7 of one specific type of Orb, every time you want to boost a weapon or armor item to the next level.

Can You Buy Orbs in Dauntless?

At the current time in Dauntless, Orbs aren't available for purchase. Although the game does feature other microtransactions in the form of the Platinum currency, there isn't an option to outright purchase Orbs for use with real world money.

Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. See our terms & conditions.
