Forza Motorsport 7 - Release Date, Trailer, Cars, Tracks, Features, Time of Day, Weather, Xbox One X - Everything We Know

We've rounded up all the news on Forza Motorsport 7, the game which looks like it will spearhead the Xbox One X launch.

Forza Motorsport 7 is coming this year to Xbox One, Xbox One X and Windows 10. As one of Microsoft’s key titles for the end of 2017 Forza 7 will have a lot riding on its shoulders. This page will tell you all you need to know, including info on the Forza 7 release date, Forza 7 pre-orders, and the cars and tracks that will be included.

Forza Motorsport 7 Essential Information:

  • Release Date: October 3, 2017
  • Price: $59.99
  • Publisher: Microsoft
  • Developer: Turn 10 Studios
  • Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox One X and PC

Forza Motorsport 7 Release Date and Pre-order

At e3 2017 Microsoft announced that the Forza 7 release date is October 3, 2017 for Xbox One and Windows 10. The game will be fully compatible and upgraded for the Xbox One X, when it launches on November 7.

Forza 7 Includes Dynamic Weather

Although wet conditions aren’t available in every Forza 7 track, when it is available it’s dynamic. While racing on these tracks the game will transition through numerous weather conditions, so you never quite know what you’re going to be dealing with. You might think the grey skies are going to blow over, but instead get a thunderous downpour!

Time of Day Changes in Forza 7

As in Forza Horizon 3, the skies will change in Forza 7 so you might sometimes be racing at dusk and other times at dawn. This will give each track a different look and feel, and when combined with the weather system makes for tracks that can be radically different from one race to the next. It's currently unclear if this is dynamic or fixed after pre-race settings are chosen.

Forza Motorsport 7 on the Xbox One X

Forza motorsport 7 was showcased at Microsoft’s e3 2017 conference and it looks very pretty. The game will be the first to use a seven-year partnership with Porsche and will including the Porsche 9/11 GT2RS.

Forza Motorsport 7 will include customised drivers and will run in native 4K, 60FPS on Xbox One X. The game was shown running on Xbox One X, and will include more than 700 cars including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches.

When Digital Foundry unveiled the tech specs of Project Scorpio back in April 2017, they heavily implied that a new Forza game would be making its way onto the console, as the Forza engine had been ported over to the Scorpio.

On top of this, a screenshot from an unannounced Forza game was used to show off the Scorpio’s graphical capabilities, so don’t be surprised if Microsoft use the release of Forza Motorsport 7 to push the Scorpio’s tech specs to the maximum.

Forza Motorsport 7 Confirmed Features and Cover Car

  • Forza 7 marks the first Forza game in the series where you can fully customise your driver avatar.
  • The three tracks shown off at E3 2017 were Dubai, the Nurbergring in Germany, and Mugello Circuit.
  • With over 700 cars listed for Forza Motorsport 7, this list includes trucks, which we saw racing around the latter Mugello Circuit track.
  • A variety of driving assists can help you if you're not a veteran racer, such as braking assist to help slow down for corners.
  • The sand detail on the Dubai map was so detailed that it blurred the driving assist line on the track.
  • The sound detail changes according to where the camera is, for example if you change to the camera within the car, the engine sound will be dampened.
  • The weather can change in the middle of a race, and the amount of water on the track can change over the course of a race if it continually rains.

Xbox’s Phil Spencer announced at the Geneva Motor Show 2016 that the Lamborghini Centenario would be the cover car featured on Forza Motorsport 7.

Back in November 2016, the CEO of wheel maker Fanatic, Thomas Jackermeier, not only inadvertently confirmed the existence of a sequel to Forza Motorsport 6, but that the game would feature Wheel support. Jackermeier asked fans if they had any problems with Wheel support in Forza Motorsport 6, and what features they would like to see implemented in Forza Motorsport 7. Since the post from the CEO has never been deleted since it was originally posted last year, we can only assume Jackermeier was speaking the truth.
