It launches March 25, though many have been confused as to exactly when they'll be able to play it. Well, in this Battlefield 5 Firestorm Time Guide, we'll detail the exact schedule.

Battlefield 5 Devastation of Rotterdam

On August 16, EA and DICE revealed the 'Devastation of Rotterdam' trailer for Battlefield 5. You can check out the trailer in full just below, in which we can see armies fighting all around and within Rotterdam itself, using planes, tanks, and a variety of weaponry.

Battlefield 5 Firestorm Battle Royale Mode

At EA's E3 2018 event in LA, the Battle Royale mode for the game was revealed for the first time. EA said that this mode would be coming to Battlefield 5 at an unspecified point after launch, and when DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson spoke to Gamespot after the show, he said that there was an "extremely big push" from within DICE to get a Battle Royale mode added to the game.

"I would be lying [if I said] there weren't people in the studio that would play [battle royale games] a lot," Gustavsson added later on. "We enjoy it. It's good fun, and it brings a new perspective."

Later on in September, EA revealed that the name "Firestorm" had been given to the Battlefield 5 Battle Royale mode. Not only this, but the mode will support 64 players in total, and from the look of the reveal just below, it seems like only teams of four will be able to participate in the Firestorm mode.

After this first reveal of the name, it was revealed that Criterion is developing the Firestorm mode for Battlefield 5, alongside DICE. In addition to this, Firestorm will also feature some optional objectives which, if accomplished, will reward your squad with some powerful weapons and gear.

Battlefield 5 Single Player War Stories

If you were wondering whether single player is back in Battlefield 5, then fear not, for the War Stories mode from the previous game is returning. Battlefield 1 was rightly praised for its War Stories mode, which depicted multiple characters fighting their way through various battlegrounds of the First World War. We don't yet know where or when Battlefield 5's War Stories will be taking place, but we did catch a very brief glimpse of a protagonist falling into a lake, which EA stated was taking place within Norway.

You can see a snapshot of the protagonist for the aforementioned Norway War Story in Battlefield 5 just above. This brief glimpse was then slightly expanded upon at Microsoft's E3 2018 presentation on June 10, when we saw the protagonist in melee and ranged combat with throwing knives against occupation forces.

Battlefield 5 Grand Operations and Modes

Operations were a massive part of Battlefield 1, and Battlefield 5 is taking this is a step further, introducing Grand Operations. This new mode takes place over four total days, with each day being a single step in a massive battle. On the first day, you could be tasked with taking down the other team’s artillery, and on the second day, the number of artillery you sabotaged will have a direct impact on how many respawns your team has.

On the third day of Grand Operations you’ll switch maps, the example EA used in a presentation to press was switching between different parts of Rotterdam, and you can also change modes. It’s in this third day of the battle that Grand Operations can end if one team has a decisive victory, but if it’s a close finish the battle will roll into the fourth and final day.

In the fourth and final day of Grand Operations, either team can win. All four days of Grand Operations can potentially feature different modes on different maps, and EA told us that the location of the mode will be changed up every few weeks. It’s certainly a long haul game mode, and can potentially last for around an hour.

Apart from Grand Operations, we know so far that both team deathmatch and domination are set to return for certain in Battlefield 5. We don't yet know the other modes for the shooter, but it's highly likely that one of them will be 'search and destroy', given that one of the scenarios in Grand Operations is for the attacking team to destroy several artillery stations around the map.

Battlefield 5 Airborne Mode

After the official reveal of Battlefield 5 for the first time in late May 2018, the official Battlefield Twitter account revealed the new Airborne mode. You can see the announcement tweet just below, in which DICE reveals that you'll parachute your way onto the map, before destroying artillery positions on the ground.

This sounds pretty similar to a scenario in Grand Operations that DICE revealed during the unveiling of Battlefield 5. As we detailed previously, there's a Grand Operations mode in which attacking players must destroy artillery positions, while the defending players attempt to stop the other team from sabotaging their anti aircraft weaponry.

Battlefield 5 Customizable Company

EA also revealed the new “Companies” feature for Battlefield 5 in the reveal stream on May 23. Every player will have their own unique Company, and it’s within this company that you can customize your soldiers, weapons, and vehicles including tanks and planes.

Soldiers can be customized with warpaint and hairstyles, while weapons will each have between five and seven customizable cosmetic parts to them, including scopes, stocks, and barrels. Meanwhile, you can outfit your tanks and planes with a variety of sprays and paint skins, to make them stand out in Battlefield 5.

You can earn new cosmetic items for your Company through two ways: playing Battlefield 5, or purchasing them with microtransactions. EA stressed that you can earn every single cosmetic for your Company through playing the game, so you won’t have to shell out money to get hold of the rarest skins or stocks for you weapons or soldiers.

Battlefield 5 DLC - Tides of War

As for the DLC plans for Battlefield 5, EA revealed that there would be no Premium or Season Pass for the game, like there was for Battlefield 1. The goal is to clearly keep the player base together, since Battlefield 5 is such a team focused game. As such, there won’t be a split in the player base between those who own new maps and modes in DLC, and those who don’t.

There will be four total “Chapters” of DLC available for Battlefield 5 throughout the first year of the game’s lifespan. There’ll be a new DLC Chapter roughly every few months, and these can feature new maps, modes, Grand Operations, as well as brand new War Stories, the single player feature that’s returning from Battlefield 1.
