CoD WW2 Best Light Machine Guns Guide

As we mentioned, the light machine gun class of weapons in Call of Duty: WW2 is likely the least used in the entire game, given that virtually everyone playing the game online tends to prioritise speed over firepower. However, if you can master the light machine gun weapons on offer in Call of Duty: WW2, there's the opportunity to possess some of the most powerful weapons in the game.

Although they are typically slow and heavy weapons, light machine guns offer some of the best stopping power out of all the different weapon groups in Call of Duty: WW2. Just below, we've listed several of the best Call of Duty: WW2 light machine guns, including

CoD WW2 Lewis

The Lewis might be the starting weapon in the light machine gun category, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's the worst weapon in the category. The Lewis actually has a fantastic combination of range and accuracy, and a solid damage attribute meaning you can pick off players with just a few shots from medium or long range with ease.

For game modes to use the Lewis in, you really can't go wrong in any mode. Although we'd recommend using the Lewis in more open maps than close quarters, you can use the weapon well in any mode, from Team Deathmatch or Free-for-All, to Hardpoint or Search and Destroy.

CoD WW2 MG 42

There's a reason that you can only unlock the MG 42 after you've Prestiged. It's undoubtedly one of the best and most powerful weapons in Call of Duty: WW2, let alone in the light machine guns category. Boasting a supreme damage statistic along with a decent accuracy attribute, you really can't go wrong with the MG 42.

You can fairly safely use the MG 42 in just about any situation, or any game mode, perhaps with the exception of close quarters combat. Given the large magazine and damage of the MG 42, it's excellent for holding and taking points in various game modes like Hardpoint or Domination.

CoD WW2 Bren

Finally, the Bren might not be the absolute best light machine gun in Call of Duty: WW2, but it's nonetheless a powerful weapon to use. It's a heavy and slow weapon to hold and aim, but it can take out virtually any player in two or three hits.

Considering that the Bren is an incredibly heavy weapon to hold and aim with, we'd recommend giving it a miss in close quarters combat maps, and instead saving it purely for use in wide open maps.

The brand new War Machine DLC pack 2 is now live for Call of Duty: WW2 players on the PS4, coming at a later date to the Xbox One and PC. Head over to our CoD WW2 War Machine DLC guide for a complete breakdown of all the brand new content.
