Pokémon Sun and Moon: How to Evolve Alola Raichu and All New Pokémon

Here's how to evolve Alola Raichu, as well as the rest of the new Pokémon in Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Pokémon is all about catching 'em all – but it's also arguably about evolving 'em all (when applicable). Pokémon don't simply look different when they evolve: They also become stronger, and can even change their typing. The same holds true for Pokémon Sun and Moon. This Pokemon Sun and Moon Evolution guide will tell you all you need to know, including how to evolve Alola Raichu.

Alola has a host of new Pokémon, many of which boast unique evolutions. In some cases, evolving an Alola Pokémon is simply a matter of levelling it up. In other cases, you need to perform special actions.

This guide tells you what you need to do to evolve each Pokémon in Sun and Moon. For related hints, tips, and walkthroughs, consult our Pokémon Sun and Moon guide!

Pokemon Sun and Moon Evolution Guide

To evolve Rowlet into Dartrix and Decidueye -- Rowlet becomes Dartrix at level 17, then it becomes Decidueye at level 34.

To evolve Litten into Torracat and Incineroar -- Litten becomes Torracat at level 17, then it becomes Incineroar at Level 34.

To evolve Popplio into Brionne and Primarina -- Like the other starters, Popplio evolves into its second form, Brionne, at level 17, then it grows into its final form, Primarina, at level 34.

To evolve Rockruff into Lycanroc (Midday or Midnight form) -- Rockruff shifts from its adorable puppy form when you hit level 25. However, its evolution is affected by the version of the game you're playing. In Pokémon Sun, Rockruff shifts to the quadruped "Midday form" of Lycanroc during daylight hours in-game. In Pokémon Moon, Rockruff becomes the werewolf-like Lycanroc during nighttime hours in-game.

To evolve Yungoos into Gumshoos -- Yungoos becomes Gumshoos at level 20. To evolve Pikipek into Trumbeak and Toucannon -- The wee Pikipek becomes Trumbeak at level 14, then the powerhouse Toucannon at level 28.

To evolve Grubbin into Charjabug and Vikavolt -- Grubbin becomes Charjabug at level 20. Level up Charjabug at the Vast Poni Canyon area to get Vikavolt.

To evolve Cutiefly into Ribombee -- Cutiefly becomes Ribombee at level 25.

To evolve Salandit into Salazzle -- The powerful Salazzle only evolves out of female Salandit at level 33, interestingly. Males stay as Salandit for good.

To evolve Stufful into Bewear -- The huggable loveable Stufful becomes the significantly more deadly Bewear at level 27.

To evolve Wimpod into Golisopod -- The timid Wimpod becomes the mighty Golisopod at level 30.

To evolve Bounsweet into Steenee and Tsareena -- Bounsweet becomes Steenee at level 18. From there, it becomes Tsareena when it learns Stomp, which it learns naturally at level 29.

To evolve Mudbray into Mudsdale -- The stubborn little Mudbray becomes the massive Mudsdale at level 30.

To evolve Formantis into Lurantis -- Formantis becomes Lurantis when it levels up past level 34 during the daytime.

To evolve Sandygast into Palossand -- The rather creative and rather frightening Sandygast becomes Palossand at level 42.

To evolve Morelull into Shiinotic -- Morelull becomes Shiinotic at level 24.

To evolve Crabrawler into Crabominable -- The berry-loving Crabrawler becomes Crabominable when you level it up in Alola's Mount Lanakila area.

To evolve Type: Null into Silvally -- Evolve Type: Null into Silvally by making friends with it. Keep it in your party, feed it PokéBeans, pet it, and have a good time. Once it's happy enough, it'll evolve when it levels up.

To evolve Jangmo-o into Hakamo-o and Kommo-o -- Jangmo-o becomes Hakamo-o at level 34, then becomes Hakamo-o at level 45.

To evolve Alolan Ratatta into Alolan Raticate -- Alolan Rattata becomes chubby Alolan Raticate at level 20.

To evolve Pichu into Pikachu then into Alolan Raichu -- Evolve Pichu into Pikachu by making it happy. Keep it at the forefront of your party, feed it, pet it, and play with it. When Pichu becomes Pikachu, you can turn it into Alolan Raichu at any time by giving it a Thunder Stone. So cute!

To evolve Alolan Sandshrew into Alolan Sandslash -- Evolve Alolan Sandshrew by giving it an Ice Stone. It'll become Alolan Sandslash.

To evolve Alolan Vulpix into Alolan Ninetales -- To evolve Alolan Vulpix, just give it an Ice Stone to turn it into Alolan Ninetails.

To evolve Alolan Meowth into Alolan Persian -- Evolve Alolan Meowth by keeping it happy. Pet it, feed it, play with it, battle with it. When it's happy enough, it'll turn into Alolan Persian after levelling up.

To evolve Alolan Geodude into Alolan Graveler and Alolan Golem -- Alolan Geodude becomes Alolan Graveler at level 25. To get Alolan Golem, you have to trade an Alolan Golem to another player (who will then hopefully trade it back to you).

To evolve Alolan Grimer into Alolan Muk -- The weirdly-gorgeous looking Alolan Muk evolves out of Alolan Grimer at level 38.

To evolve Exeggcute into Alolan Exeggutor -- You can have your very own unofficial Pokémon Sun and Moon mascot by using a Leaf Stone on a regular Exeggute.

To evolve Alolan Diglett into Alolan Dugtrio -- Alolan Diglett becomes Alolan Dugtrio at level 26. "Dig" those flowing golden locks.

To evolve Cubone into Alolan Marowak -- The formidable-looking Alolan Marowak evolves from regular Cubone at level 28, though you'll need to level up at night (in-game) for the evolution to happen.
