A Bubble Bobble Revival is Coming to Nintendo Switch, But Europe Will Get it Before the US

Sorry U.S. fans, you'll have to wait a bit.

A beloved bubble blastin' series is getting new life on Nintendo's hybrid console. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, the first new console Bubble Bobble in over a decade, is coming to the Nintendo Switch in November for Europe, while the U.S. will have to wait until the new year.

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will see a release on November 19 for Europe, but a U.S. release is expected to follow in the first quarter of 2020. While the delay is a bummer, there's a trailer to go with the announcement to sate your curiosity a bit.

The original studio behind Bubble Bobble, TAITO Corporation, is back on the series to develop this four-player take on the bubble-bursting fun. Set in a world where a child's favorite toy, a dragon called Bub, has come to life, an evil magician challenges Bub to a battle that seems to set up the bubble fight.

Interest in older series like Bubble Bobble has spiked around the growing interest in retro consoles, so it's not too surprising to see someone take a stab at bringing back such a memorable franchise. Whether it remains faithful or not is yet to be seen, though the four-player multiplayer mayhem looks like a good fit for same-screen group sessions.

If it can remain as true to the series' roots as others have, it could be a real good time for Switch owners looking for a new family multiplayer game. We'll find out sometime next year, when Bubble Bobble 4 Friends arrives on American store shelves.
