Grab your tools, brush the dust off those boots, and... uh, start thinking of ways to impress your sweetheart, because a significant update for Stardew Valley's on the way. Stardew creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has announced that the free 1.4 content update will launch for the PC on November 26.
"One of my main goals with 1.4 was to finally 'polish' the game to the degree that I've always wanted," writes Barone in a new post on Stardew's blog. "What I mean by that is that I wanted to fix all the bugs that have been lingering in the game, to fix a lot of weird or annoying things about the controls & feel of the game, and add in a lot of 'quality of life' features that will make the game more seamless to play."
Barone, who is now self-publishing Stardew on all platforms save for mobile, recently told USgamer he's been unofficially referring to 1.4 as "the 'everything' update." While he doesn't want to give away too much about what's coming, especially in terms of new endgame content, Barone promises "nearly every aspect of the game has been expanded or improved upon in some way."
Still, we do know about two major improvements coming to Stardew. First, unique 14-heart events are coming for all the characters you can marry. Second, a new screenshot feature in the options menu will let PC players capture an image of their entire farm ("or any area," adds Barone).
Barone is aiming for a simultaneous release of 1.4 for consoles and mobile "a few weeks after PC." Just last week, the Xbox One version of Stardew Valley received the 1.3 multiplayer update, bringing it up to parity with the PC and other consoles. There are currently no plans to bring multiplayer features to Stardew's mobile ports. The PlayStation Vita version "is still slated to get another update to fix some problems," but it won't receive any additional content beyond the 1.2 patch.
