A New Co-op Castlevania Game is Coming to Mobile iOS

Konami announces Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls

There's a new Castlevania game coming out later this year. It's called, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls and Konami says it will be a multiplayer, co-op mobile game available on iOS.

The focus of the new mobile Castlevania game will be on real-time co-op like a four-player boss rush mode, 4v4 competitive multiplayer, and four-player co-op. Players can choose from some of Castlevania's most popular characters and pair up heroes across different Castlevania games.

Available characters include Simon Belmont, Alucard, Charlotte Aulin, Shanoa, and Maria Renard. There's also new characters like government agent Genya Arikado and Lucy, a young researcher in anti-Dracula arts.

There's no release date announced, but Japan will host a closed beta in the next couple of months for Grimoire of Souls. You can sign up for it on the official website.

It's not clear exactly how the game will play, or how the competitive multiplayer modes might work. But screenshots for the game do at least look pretty good, even if an iOS mobile game might not be what Castlevania fans expected after all these years.

The last Castlevania game was 2014's Lords of Shadow 2 which was the sequel to the Hideo Kojima-produced 3D Castlevania series of games. There was also a successful Castlevania animated series on Netflix that's been renewed for a second season.
