Stylish Fighting Game Absolver Has a Summer Release Date

Go toe-to-toe with foes when Absolver hits PC and PS4 this summer.

Absolver, a stylish online action game from France-based ex-Ubisoft developers Sloclap, now has a release date. The melee-focused, third-person fighting game will release on August 29th on PC and Playstation 4.

Absolver seeks to be a game with both the depth for potential long-term adopting players, and to be accessible for those picking up the game for the first time. “We had some taglines which we always referred to: ‘Combat is a dance,’ ‘Movement is your weapon,’ and ‘Make your Move,'” wrote developer Pierre Tarno in a Playstation Blog with the release date announcement. "This would be a game in which the beauty and subtlety of martial arts combat can be seen and felt, where body dynamic and impact sensations are paramount, and in which players will create their own combat choreographies in real-time.”

Sloclap also released an in-depth video detailing the layered combat of Absolver, a system that thrives on player creativity and sharp focus. At the start of the game, the player can adopt the fighting styles of Kahlt Method, Forsaken, and Windfall—all with their own signature perks and abilities. The game pins the player as a masked Prospect, left to roam a mysterious land ravaged by an earthquake centuries prior. Players can build a team of combatants to join them for PvE scenarios, or go toe-to-toe with one another in PvP battles.
