And Now, a One-Woman Performance of Hamilton in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
And there's a chance you could attend a future performance!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been used for plenty of fabulous creations and activities over 2020 so far, from weddings, to general get-togethers, and more. Now, there's a brand new in-game creation to take the crown: a brief, one-woman rendition of Hamilton.
Over on the Animal Crossing subreddit, user tigerlilly357 posted a brief video of them on an improvised stage area on their New Horizons island. The way the player positions the stage area as lower than the audience in the foreground is actually really clever - it makes the entire thing look like it's taking place in an auditorium with the audience looking down on the stage.

There's a few props spread over the stage, with a desk and chair positioned upstage left, and mannequins with elaborate dresses meant to stand in for background performers. The user really cleverly uses a magic wand to quickly switch between outfits while saying certain corresponding lines for the current song. For example there's the "you'll be back" line from King George's song, and the user changes into an outfit with a crown and robes (you can hear the fantastic original by Jonathan Groff below).
It's a really impressive feat, and I love it to bits. In fact, user tigerlilly357 on Reddit is actually trying to rearrange another performance, inviting as many people as possible to their island to put on the show again. Who knows, maybe you could be in with a chance of attending a future one-woman performance of Hamilton.
I previously wrote about Animal Crossing: New Horizons's opening weekend being a time like no other for community bonding and interaction through a game. It's clear that, almost six months after launch, the Animal Crossing community is a still a pretty special place.
