Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Customize Items
You can customize items in Animal Crossing New Horizons using Customization Kits. Here's how.
There are a lot of customization options available in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Everything from furniture to clothing can be changed, though the former will require Customization Kits. In this guide we'll teach you how to unlock customization, and how to get Customization Kits. We'll also run you through customizing a piece of furniture.

How to Unlock Customization
To customize items in Animal Crossing New Horizons you'll need to unlock the option to do so. After building the museum, and after inviting three new neighbours (more on that here), Tom Nook will offer a workshop on customization. Head to Resident Services to take it, you will need to craft a wardrobe first, Tom Nook will give you the recipe. Once you have completed this workshop you're free to customize items.
How to Customize Items
To customize items head to a DIY bench with some Customization Kits in your inventory. You'll be given the option to customize something. Select the item you want to customize and then cycle through the options. Depending on what you choose, you'll pay between 1 and 4 Kits (for a look at using Custom Designs, head here ).

How to Get Customization Kits
You'll get 50 Customization Kits for completing Tom Nook's customization workshop. If you want to buy more you will need to head to the Nook's Cranny Shop and look at the selection (you can also talk to Timmy if you haven't unlocked that yet). Customization Kits cost 600 each.
