To get an axe in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you'll need to speak to Tom Nook on your second day, and donate fish or bugs to him. He'll give you the recipe for a flimsy axe, which can be used to get wood from trees (more on that here). You'll need the following to build an axe:

The flimsy axe will only get you so far in Animal Crossing New Horizons. You'll want to get the proper version of the axe, which is capable of cutting down trees (more on that here). To get it, you'll need to purchase the Pretty Good Tools DIY Recipe from the Nook Stop. This will set you back 3000 Miles. Here's what you'll need to make an axe:

- Iron Nugget (1)

How to Get a Stone Axe
To be able to get materials from rocks, you'll need a Stone Axe. You can get one by purchasing the Pretty Good Tools Recipe from a Nook Stop for 3000 Miles. Here's what you'll need to craft one:
